The RNC Convention through Mainstream Media Eyes
American Thinker ^ | July 24, 2016 | Dan Joppich

Posted on 07/24/2016 9:15:00 AM PDT by Kaslin

I’m one of those rare few who don’t believe in paying for television or radio, so most of my updates on the RNC convention came via network news, public television, public radio and a smattering of Liberal-leaning websites. Since it’s unlikely that most here frequent these “news” sources, I thought that I would share my takeaway from the Left’s point of view this week:

Monday – Apparently nobody gave speeches on Monday if you get your news from the Left. Coverage revolved around all the people carrying guns and all the police in and around the convention center. Since the two never clashed, the Leftist media were totally disappointed. They turned to their new darling, one of my favorites – Jonah Goldberg from NRO. They’re only interested in Jonah because he hates Trump with a passion. Actually Trump mentions Goldberg as one of the people who motivated him to jump into the race just to prove him wrong. NPR seems to think that Jonah gives them credibility and balance but in this one circumstance he confirms them instead. If they have Jonah on air to discuss his opinions of Hillary during the DNC convention, then I’ll believe that their intentions are balanced reporting. Of course, Jonah is there on this day not to comment on the speakers but to draw a connection between Trump and the only other story of the day/night – convention-goers suffering from a norovirus. So Day One Wrap Up – Lots of crazies with guns. Lots of police with guns and body armor. Nobody was shot. Lots of people got sick. Nobody important enough to care about hit the stage.

Quite frankly, I’ve not counted on any comments by the mainstream media for quite a few years. THEY LIE.

Yeah, it was so obvious when she wore that white dress -- It's the same color as Klan robes!! Anybody can see that. /s

For the same reason as the author, I watched the convention on PBS/NPR program all four nights.

The author’s story shocks me. In my experience Iffil, Woodruff, Brooks et al were totally biased and at important moments the commentators would over talk the Convention speaker or break away for other comments, hence denying viewers parts of speeches that could hurt Dems.

Much of the editing was designed to hurt Trump and the Convention, but the silence the author described was not my experience.

To quote the late, great philosopher Marvin Gaye:

"Believe half of what you see, son, and none of what you hear."-1968

This year, more than ever, I'm applying that standard to the MSM.

Like Mr. Joppich, I, "don’t believe in paying for television or radio, so most of my updates on the RNC convention came via network news, public television, public radio and a smattering of Liberal-leaning websites."

Spent a lot of time here on FR following the convention action via nikos1121's fantastic, record setting threads.

On Friday I was able to listen to a lot of radio. I heard NPS, CBS and NBC news during the day. I was surprised they all used the word "dark" to describe Trump's acceptance speech which I had read.

Earlier today I was on the Sunday Morning Talk Show thread and Alas Babylon put up a graphic that explained it all:

The New Yorker, as usual, went overboard.

Talk about plagiarism, my thesaurus has at least 13 words for dark.

There you have it......... all the words in the English language. What are the statistical odds of all those MSM outlets using the same word to describe a speech by the nominee?

Sad.

Isn’t “dark” a dog whistle word for....you know? So doesn’t that make the Democrats racist?

Donald Trump raised his kids single handed. They were not taught one thing by Mom. Donald did a wonderful job.
It was all a little over the top. Yes I am voting for Donald.

By their horribly biased reporting, it seems the Leftwing media PROPAGANDISTS weren’t even watching the same RNC that I watched.

What part of “Make America GREAT again” don’t they understand? That’s an optimistic message. All the speakers were optimistic and hopeful.

Well, actually one can understand how left-wing nutjobs would see it as pessimism because:

1. LESS FREE STUFF FROM TAXPAYERS TO LAZY/SELFISH LEFTWINGERS == GOOD REASON FOR LEFTWINGERS TO BE PESSIMISTIC as their free ride is about to end.

2. BUT FOR THE PRODUCERS IN THIS COUNTRY, IT’S AN OPTIMISTIC MESSAGE BECAUSE THEY WILL PRODUCE MORE WHEN NOT BURDENED BY THE SOCIAL WELFARE STATE.

Criticizing the Left Socioeconomic Fascists isn’t pessimistic. It’s realistic!

I think that’s a great plan anytime for the MSM.
