My Opinion of Trump’s Convention Speech
Dilbert.com ^ | 7/22/2016 | Scott Adams

...This speech introduced no new outrages, and voters are starting to get used to the old ones. So on a strategic level, it was a strong performance. If Trump does more of this, and adds no new outrages, he’ll glide to a comfortable victory.

Persuasion-wise, Trump’s family was the big story of the convention. People seem to love them in the same way the public loved the Kennedys. And notice how Donald Jr. and Eric both have the speaking cadence of John and Jack Kennedy. Notice also how Melania reminds you of Jackie Kennedy – quiet, smart, and classy. These are coincidences, but your irrational brain doesn’t care. It sees a new batch of Kennedys and wants to see more of them.

The Trump kids and the Trump wife are sealing the deal for Dad. "If Trump does more of this, and adds no new outrages, he’ll glide to a comfortable victory."

When will we learn last night’s ratings? It’s odd that we haven’t seen them yet.

Whatever it takes.

His choice of a running mate was brilliant. I saw Pence’s acceptance speech and he’s the best running mate I’ve seen someone pick in a LONG time.

There is a MAN who I would have no concerns about taking up leadership if something happened to Trump.

I agree about the kids. There is even talk now that Trump Jr should run for mayor of NYC. Lots of favorable press about Ivanka. I hope the kids take a visible role in the campaign from now on.

And when you compare the entire Trump family’s visual appeal to the entire Clinton family’s visual imagery it’s a massacre.

Now that's funny!

After seeing the Trump family on stage, the Democrats have to be mortified about the thought of that dysfunctional mess that is the Clinton family gathering on a stage.

The Trumps are the Kennedys with all the style and none of the dysfunction.

Hillary Clinton and the Democrats should be worried.

Why? Because Donald Trump delivered Thursday night and did what he needed to do. No, he didn’t deliver a speech with great oratorical flourish. No, he didn’t broaden the base of the party significantly though he did speak about minorities and the LGBTQ community in ways that he hadn’t done before.

What Trump did, and he did it very well, was to raise the stakes of the election and define it in his own terms. Law and order, crime in the streets, and terror. He managed to make the argument, compellingly, that these challenges were the central ones America faced and that given the failures of President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, his way of change was the only way to go.

You may have heard the speech by Barrack. Can’t remember his first name. He spoke last night. In the speech he said in passing that 50 million were watching. Don’t know if this was factual but if it was this would be a blow out and unprecedented. Don’t think 50 million would have watched any convention.

My mother-in-law who is 85 said that she has watched every single Republican convention since she was of voting age. She pointed out that she never ever saw one like this and loved it.

Fan the kids out across this country. I hate to make a comparison to the Kennedy clan but these kids look great and speak well. Saturate the media.

Drive By Media waiting for Hildabeast to announce her VP Flunkey so it drains the air out of Trump’s ratings.

How does Pence fit into this narrative ? I still don’t get it.

The libs can’t for the life of them understand why the Trump kids with all that money available aren’t emulating the kardouchians. They would prefer trash (well, more trash) in the wh than folks with great work ethics.

The positive reactions to the Trump family are interesting. Those kids came from 3 different mothers, and a lot of ink spilled in the NY tabloids over the years, and yet the Trump family comes across as impressive, well-adjusted, and loving.

Meanwhile the Clintons will seem familiar. Maybe some people will feel comforted by that, but let’s remember the son-in-law’s hedge fund just collapsed, losing billions in investors’ money despite having access to inside information.

And of course the patriarch has been accused of rape or sexual assault by at least 13 different women and he was impeached for lying under oath in a sex harassment lawsuit. I remind as many people as I can about that because the kneepads media will not mention it.

I wish Trump had taken just a few minutes to make the obvious PREDICTION that the media would like and call his speech negative when it was and is in fact positive.
