Airbnb is bringing on a big name to show its commitment to tackling discrimination.
The company announced Wednesday that it has hired former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to develop a "world-class anti-discrimination policy."
The high-profile appointment follows....

Airbnb just made it easier for me to decide how to book future travel. I won't be looking at Airbnb.
Yes. That one thing would put me off that company forever.
Another customer lost. Damn! I love the airbnb system.
App deleted
Nice move AirB@B
Still have Travelocity, Expedia, Viago, Pricelinw and Booking. One less App to check. Nothing like a company using stupidity to remove itself from the competition.
If they want to Inject racism into MY decision not to endanger my life my living among savages who will not hesitate to kill me by virtue of MY RACE, then we have no need to conduct business.
“anti-discrimination” = get rid of the white employees

"Airbnb is prepared to fight. It is valued at more than $25 million, and it has hired political veterans like Chris Lehane, a former adviser to Bill Clinton.
To convince cities and activists that short-term rentals can serve a common good, Airbnb might have to work harder to weed out sketchy landlords like the ones in Los Angeles.
"I think short-term rentals pose a serious threat to affordable housing," said attorney Randy Renick, who represents the Los Angeles tenants. "And in Los Angeles, the platform most widely used by landlords to evade the law is Airbnb."
I had plans to use Airbnb next year. But I’ve emailed them asking that they fire Holder or I will not be using their service. We’ll see what happens.
Guaranteed AirBnb’s CEO and other execs are in their 20s or 30s. This proves that if they ever go public, they have not the savviness to even think hiring Holder could offend or turn off anyone. That is the definition of a tin ear. When you are too dumb to not know that you don’t know, stay away from such companies.
How would this work?
If you’re white and rent out your place at airbnb, would a percentage of the rent go to a black issues fund?
Or would you lose the right to decide whether or not to rent to someone after contacting them via email and/or phone?
Me neither!!
Yep...Eric will fix it...
Free room and board for Obama’s sons and daughters.
White’s pay double.
As an aside from the Eric Holder issue, and FYI, we used to own a house we had listed on VRBO. We never listed on AirB&B, because of some of the horror stories about renters trashing homes. Most of you probably know that VRBO, HomeAway, etc., allowed owners to list their houses for a fee. Under this system, when renting my house, I spoke on the phone with potential renters, and could get a feel for who was going to be staying in our house. I sent an invoice to them through Paypal, or they sent a check. Very personal service.
Our cost through VRBO was around $300 a year, but in heavily marketed areas - beaches, tourist areas, etc., fees were higher to insure placement near the top of the listings. That’s how these companies made their money - from the fees paid by the homeowners. This past year, since the purchase of VRBO et. al, by Expedia, they began pushing “BOOK IT NOW”, ostensibly
as a way to protect the renter. That results in a charge TO THE RENTER of up to 10% over and above what the property owner receives. They have made it more difficult for the homeowner to have that one on one contact with the renter, and push the BIN feature as “wait, we can’t protect you if you don’t use the Book IT Now” method of paying.
IF you are using some of these services to book property, be aware that the book it now feature results in more expense to you as a guest. You can check the reviews on properties to see if the owner is responsive to problems, etc. I still use VRBO to rent vacation property myself, but I don’t use the Book it Now - I try and email the owner directly, find a phone # on the listing, etc. Sorry this was so long.
It doesn’t surprise me about Holder. Sometimes I discouraged an inquiry - might have been 6 single guys under 25 or people I didn’t think would be careful with my house, etc., and I’m sure Holder will make sure homeowners have no wiggle room when it comes to whom they rent their property.
There is nothing this disgusting administration hasn’t infected. I rely on airbnb for travel almost exclusively. This makes me sick. Holder is a contemptible POS.
I always use VRBO.com. Now I’ll never use AirB.
“Anyone wanting to fight discrimination doesn’t really want Eric Holder. Airbnb just made it easier for me to decide how to book future travel. I won’t be looking at Airbnb.”......
But, But, that’s racist!
“Anyone wanting to fight discrimination doesn’t really want Eric Holder.”
Perhaps, but anyone that doesn’t want to become a target of the racist, leftist hate groups, does.
Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, et. al, have made a damn good living blackmailing companies like this for almost 3 decades now.
“Or would you lose the right to decide whether or not to rent to someone after contacting them via email and/or phone?”
This
We spent 3 nights at an AirBnB last week in San Diego.
No more.
With Holder involved...I wouldn’t consider using AirBnB to rent my house. You could easily find it trashed by some homies and have zero recourse because that would be racist.
Note to all - Anyone making reservations should cover up their computer camera so the hotel/b&b can’t use their super duper spyware to see what race you are.
