NO SIGN OF TRUMP ENDORSEMENT, BUT PLENTY OF CRUZ AMBITION

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Sen. Ted Cruz's Texas-size political ambitions will be on full display Wednesday as the primary runner-up delivers a prime-time convention speech, but holds off on a full-throated endorsement of Republican nominee Donald Trump.

The conservative senator repeatedly clashed with Trump during a bitter primary fight, with the New York businessman mocking the lawmaker as "Lyin' Ted." With an eye toward 2020, Cruz's team drafted a convention speech focusing on adherence to the Constitution, a calling card for conservatives and a perceived contrast with Trump.

Cruz has not endorsed Trump despite pleas for party unity from the campaign and party officials. Nor is he expected to in his speech, which was carefully screened by Trump campaign officials, the senator's aides said.

He signed the pledge and backed out. He should never be given money by the RNC for his campaign if he ever runs for president again.

If he is not going to endorse, he should just go home. Sore loser.

Both CRUZ and RUBIO should do the right thing tonight and endorse Donald Trump. Use some humor to temper the bad blood and get on board the Trump Train. I would respect both these men more if they honor their pledge.

If Trumo loses, Saint Ted and Friar Kasich are on the blame-list and should be off the 2020 list.

No Trump endorsement? What a total LOSER this a$$clown is, if so.

Of course the Associated Press is going to want to paint Cruz as a bad guy. We FReepers shouldn’t be so quick to glom onto the MSM’s negative portrayals of this proven conservative senator.

I am so sorry I ever sent this clown a nickle. Cruz made a pledge and broke it. He and the other 16 candidates all made a big deal about how they signed the pledge and tried to shame Trump into signing. Then Trump signed on and cowards like Cruz backed out.

Lying Cruz. Yep.

Rubio needs to be on board if he wants a political future. His speech I will watch. Think I will skip Grandpa Munster...I mean Lyin’ Ted.

Cruz is speaking tonight, I believe. And, if he cares about his political future, he'll do the right thing.

He’s proven one thing for sure. He’s more concerned about 2020 than this year

If we had a list of all the Cruz supporters who guaranteed that Cruz would honor his promise “once Trump is the nominee,” we could ping them after the speech, and ask for feedback. It would be petty and counterproductive, yet very interesting.

Cruz’s national ambitions are finished. He has shown himself to be a liar, cheat and fraud as well as a certified loon. He has turned off so many one time supporters that all he has left is a small band of crazies that will cement his status as a fringe candidate going forward.

More than that he’s proven that if his political rivals supporters get attacked by hired communist thugs he’s 100% cool with it.

CRUZ will rue the day if he uses his time slot this evening to promote himself up instead of building up TRUMP.

Cruz can eye 2020 all he wants. His antics this cycle have killed any hope of success in that run.

Did it to himself and appears unwilling to change tack now.
