AUSTIN, TX -- Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has been released after four nights in the hospital for treatment of severe burns he suffered while vacationing last week.
Spokesman Matt Hirsch said Abbott left San Antonio's Brooke Army Medical Center on Friday and is returning to the governor's mansion in Austin.
Abbott, a paraplegic who uses a wheelchair, sustained extensive second- and third-degree burns on his lower legs and feet after being scalded July 7 while in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. His office won't say exactly how he was burned.

I can’t help but wonder why it’s such a secret about how he got scalded.
Many Jackson Hole resorts have hot tubs. I can see how a paraplegic could be scalded..
If I got 2nd and third degree burns on my feet, I would have talked long before they got to that point.
Ah, he was treated at BAMC, which has one of the best burn units in the world. I was wondering about that.
I worked at BAMC for three years. Not in the burn unit, but our neighbor across the street was a nurse there.
But there would be no reason to keep a hot tub accident a secret. Unless.
Some say he approached a geyser too close.
Sure, but why would that be a big secret? Lawsuit stuff, probably.
I know folks on foot get in trouble with the hot water there, but I would have thought the wheelchair would have kept him in safe areas.
And I don’t see where that would trigger the need for a coverup.
Embarrassment? He chose to wheel himself over for a close look at a geyser that chose an inconvenient time to spout? “Oh dang, I am in hot water now!”
I guess we should call him Lucky now.
I do not understand the secrecy either.
