At a time when threats against America are growing, the U.S. military is facing a combat readiness crisis that jeopardizes its ability to protect the country. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, discussed this problem recently at The Heritage Foundation.
Thornberry explained that this readiness shortfall has occurred as a result of “budget cuts coupled with deployments, at a pace and a number that have not really declined very much.”
Thornberry outlined five alarming facts caused by the readiness crisis:

the real war fighters need to remove their politically appointed officers , there has to be a big purge . Sooner the better .

If the military is going to be culturally -American-, and used for our nations defense, then fine to a point. But a drafted army is a very poor choice for wars of convenience and empire policing. Libya no, Syrian regime change no, central Africa no.

I’ll stand by to aid AWOL troops whose lives were at risk for no good reason and under such bad ROE’s that they were in imminent threat of death, etc.
I’m a Vietnam combat vet and never thought I’d say that.
As of this week, at least 701 pilots short and counting. It is very bad.
