The former beauty queen who called the Dallas shooter a martyr has been suspended from her job at a Florida TV station.
Kalyn Chapman James, who was the first black Miss Alabama, is on administrative leave from WPTB2, where she hosted a weekly art program.
I don't feel sad for the officers who lost their lives and I know that's not really my heart, the Mobile native said in a controversial two-minute clip posted to Facebook Sunday.
I value human life. And I want to feel sad for them but I can't help but feeling like the shooter was a martyr.
The Miami public TV station issued a statement on Twitter. We do not condone any suggestion that terrorism is acceptable or that it should be tolerated, it said.
The statement didnt name the 1993 Miss Alabama specifically, but local media identified her as the suspended contractor.
"WPBT2 South Florida PBS does not condone the personal statements made by one of its independent contractors regarding the events in Dallas," the station wrote.
It placed the contractor on administrative leave while it actively and carefully looks further into the matter and will determine additional course of actions based on its thorough review of the matter.
Liar, Liar. Was it good for you?
Actually, she already said what she meant. If folks don’t settle down on both sides, they’re going to get exactly what they’re looking for and they are NOT going to like it. And, it’s not going to stop when they want it to stop.
That’s the Miami public TV station. Gwen Cherry Park is going to be rockin’ Friday afternoon...
In this case, I think we need to take the term “beauty queen” very loosely. Very loosely.
Suspended? This thing will rise rapidly in the ranks of the dem party.
PC token
Miss Alabama? I’m a White guy, but I love beautiful women of all colors and races. I’ve had three Black girlfriends, all of whom were way better-looking than her. WTH?
Fire here.
Had a stupid white reporter said the Dylan kid black church shooter was anything other than a murderer they’d be fired immediately. Suspension is not enough.
Also need to fire the football player from Cleveland.
Maybe George Soros will put her on his payroll along with the BLM
movement he already funds.
Bye bye honey.
Yeah, she is kind of a liberal-face. Probably determined to choose a black and she was the only one available.
Oh! She be Amish?
I no more want her fired for her perceived unpopular opinions, than I want someone fired for expressing opinions that I agree with, but that some other faction of people disagree with. Enough, this is just another form of PC Barbara Streisand that is only meant to curtail speech. If words hurt you, grow the F up.
100%.
Nope. Nowadays companies don't want the liability and potential workplace violence issues that could cost them HUGE dollars in civil court. The woman is question is now a security threat to the safety and well being of their other workers. Let's say this woman gets more bitter and unreasonable as time goes by, then 6 months from now shoots a white employee during the commission of a hate crime. The company ( TV station ) would be shredded in a wrongful death suit because they let her stay on when she was demonstrated to be a security threat because of her public advocacy of terrorism. They have no choice but to get her as far away from their property and co workers as possible - without delay.
There's a million more braindead newsreaders and Style Section writers, producers and editors where she came from.
Then again - maybe she is just dumber than a bag of hammers - you'd have to be houseplant level stupid to post that hate on Facebook when you work in public broadcasting
