Doesn’t take much....just desire...
It was shooting fish in a barrel.....cops everywhere not expecting attack at under 100 yards....
A 10 year old with a deer rifle could handle it.....
This guy had desire, intent and enough evil to pull it off.....

He did not learn that doing masonry and carpentry. That was learned elsewhere.

"Sorry, but there really does not require that much planning for this, it only requires Evil Intent."

Agreed. It's not rocket science.

"Private First Class is an E-3."

Unless you you defect to the Taliban. Then a Private First Class is an E-5, Sergeant.

Where did you see that? That would explain the body count. I shoot 5.45 for a reason.

That's true. He ambushed them. He murdered them in a surprise attack. Anyone can do that to others, but such murderers will bear the consequences. Outside of real warfare, it's wrong. There's no race war happening except in evil minds. None of his victims did anything bad to him or his loved ones. It wasn't even an act of revenge. He didn't know the particular truths of the publicized, controversial cases that he appeared to be concerned about and didn't personally know those involved.

The perp was wearing light body armor, suitable for blocking handgun rounds. Not sure if the officer knew that, but a big mistake for other reason as well. The perp was using a rifle with far more rounds in the mag versus the LEO handgun with far fewer rounds. Of what threat was the officer. None.

All recruits have AIT - Advanced Individual Training. Prolly what the idiot reporter misunderstood and misreported.

From what I heard this morning, BLM protest was planned with the police. The protest was supposed to take place in one spot, fixed. As it was getting started, protest organizers decided to march. DPD captain said, because of the sudden change, they were struggling to leap frog from intersection to intersection to clear them for the marchers which kept them very vulnerable. The shooter may have been incredibly lucky. He saw what was happening and had police standing together not prepared for a march and vulnerable to attack. Of course this is not getting much play because again it shows a BLM has culpability since they changed the plan at the last minute.

The Las Zetas cartel paid for a team of expat SPETSNAZ - some are still working the drug trade out of the ‘Stan, to make the hit. The team flew in, did the hit and were in Mexico before the sun came up.

I think if that were the case, there would be about a hundred cops dead.

"He was competent with his former service weapon."

It was a different kind of weapon.

Here's the weapon used by the Dallas shooter
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3448063/posts

He probably fired all of 40 rounds per year at the yearly range for reserve components and spent the rest of the time on construction projects, training to do carpentry and routine cleaning and maintenance details.

But he did attend a commercial civilian school that anyone could attend.

Dallas gunman Micah Johnson honed tactics at local combat school

Only a small percentage of Army personnel are soldiers, doing direct combat drills with rifles and other small arms most of the time. The vast majority do combat training exercises a little in basic training and very rarely if at all afterward.

What is an “army first class”? And what is “hammer management”?

"I suspect the Army operates in a similar fashion."

In the Army, there are "combat" engineer units that do construction. Those units have "sections" instead of platoons and quite a variety of MOSs. In at least some of those units, the commander is referred to as "Bob" or whatever, and every other member by first name or nickname. They most often train with various tools of building trades and other jobs (even machining). They do fire rifles at a range once per year in reserve component units and once in a while, some adventure training for retention purposes.

The other kind of combat engineer unit has combat platoons with every platoon member having the same MOS. Their initial training is all done in one unit, for most, total control. They come to attention with a snap in shiny boots and refer to their commander as "Sir" and to every other member by rank while in garrison. They train most often with their weapons and spend all of the time possible in the field (even weekends).

13 weeks of initial training in one unit for those going to home units with platoons instead of sections, BTW. Only those who haven’t turned 18 and quite finished high school are allowed to leave after 8 weeks and go through a separate AIT.

...Ever try firing a rifle at night?

The latest news is that he has a red dot sight. This is an illuminated sight, and there is usually enough ambient light in a city even at night so it is not going to be a problem.

The real problem with shooting at night is seeing the sights with iron sights, or to a lesser degree, the cross hairs in a normal scope. A red dot scope means that if you can see your target, you can aim at it pretty well.
