After months of speculation, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has just confirmed he is being vetted to be Republican presidential candidate Donald Trumps vice president...
Hannity led with a brief discussion of a Drudge Report poll indicating the American people most wanted Gingrich to be selected as the vice president...
Hannity then directed a more pointed question at the former House speaker: Are you being vetted?
I think theyve been very clear all along that Im one of the four or five people that theyre vetting, Gingrich said.
When do you think that decision will be made?
My guess is that theyll do it either Thursday or Friday [before the GOP convention] so that it dominates the weekend news going into the convention.

Please no
Oh no....I Like Newtie, but he has had 3 wives also......and CAVED to Pelosi!!! COME ON....give us someone BETTER!!!
Huge mistake
This just in, The NYT has sent 10 reporters to Tiffanys in anticipation of the VP announcement.
Gingrich has been thoroughly, negatively defined. Trump has enough negatives.
Gingrich as a close advisor, sure. Gingrich as the face? Not the way he left office.
My biggest complaint from years ago is that Gingrich was attacking Clinton for his affair all while he was having his own. I hate the duplicity and hypocrisy.
GOOD GRIEF - don't start that crap again
We are fighting for our LIVES here - what about that don't you understand?
Get off you high pedestal - you're in danger of loosing consciousness from the thinned air
“VETTED” not the nominee. Nothing to see here.
Mr. Gingrich is a thinker and will crush his opponent in debates.
Better than Christie, better than Corker, better than Pence...
He should be at the top of the ticket, only so that the presidential debate can be “Newtie and the B——”. Remember the 90s, when Connie Chung had that interview with Newt’s mom and was like “c’mon, just tell me privately, what did he call her?”
I will trust Trump to know what he is doing...
Will you????
Why do you consider criticizing a terrible option (Gingrich) and hoping it’s someone better to be “crap”?
It’s exactly BECAUSE we’re fighting for our lives that it should be someone good, not Newt.
Good men are often close to destroyed by a bad woman or a bad wife.
That same man, with a GOOD woman or a GOOD wife can be the shining star of the community, AFTER the first one is gone.
Politicians are, in a sense, married to the administration they are part of and I think .. IF my amateur psychology is anywhere near close .. THAT is the reason for the democrats' fear.
If Trump is elected, I believe Newt will be completely freed of any prior restrictions because of political affiliations .. and more able to be his own man, which most of us think is OK
A whole new regime and mindset will enter Washington DC and the thought processes of Americans and we just might pull a Mussolini !
Can he handle the press? Yes
Does he have DC experience? Yes
Does he know Hillary? Yes
Is he sharp? Yes
Does he know policy? Yes
Ok. So what is the issue here? If he is going to fight and go toe to toe with these people then stop worrying about what they are going to say.
It is far better than some person that has barely been in office, has NEVER had to deal with the national press, and will need WEEKS to get up to speed or will need a bunch of hand-holding.
If people want some “aw shucks” candidate from the midwest that can be ready to go on the first day, then suggest a REAL name. Not some local guy you saw at the county fair last year and you think he or she would make a great candidate because he has a wholesome family and really nice teeth.
I got clickbaited as well, the girlfriend said she had some good stuff, she offered Ritz crackers on the side.
It sounds like it’s all over but the shouting. After all this hype, especially with Newt scheduled to appear with Trump tonight, it would almost be humiliating for Gingrich not to be picked.
I’m good with Newt as VP.
This is not the news that the GOPe should focus on. Hope they start emphasizing the conclusions about the lying pantsuit. Drill it home. She lied, repeatedly. Drive it home. She is eminently UNqualified for the office.
Newt would make an excellent VP.
Unfortunately, he has enormous baggage. Media will ridicule him into oblivion - again.
