Sen. Ted Cruz Negotiating Speaking Role at Republican Convention
NBC News ^ | July 6, 2016 | Leigh Ann Caldwell

Posted on 07/06/2016 10:39:47 AM PDT by Innovative

Sen. Ted Cruz may be on the list of speakers at the Republican National Convention that Donald Trump said he plans to release on Thursday.

Three sources, including one close to the Trump campaign, tell NBC News that Cruz is in negotiations for a speaking spot at the convention. It would be a notable shift for Trump, who previously said his former opponents who haven't yet endorsed him wouldn't be invited to speak. In response to those comments from Trump, a Cruz spokeswoman said at the time that the Texas senator wasn't expecting to receive any time on the schedule.

If Cruz does indeed speak at the convention, it would be a boon for both the senator and the presumptive GOP nominee, who is still struggling to unite the party behind his candidacy with less than two weeks to go until the convention kicks off in Cleveland. Cruz is widely expected to make another White House run in the future, and his appearance at the convention would further elevate him within the party. It could also help convince his former supporters to back Trump, many of whom remain skeptical of the presumptive nominee — and a small cohort of whom are trying to force a contested convention to oust Trump.

I certainly hope his speech will consists of endorsing Trump and asking Republicans to unite in supporting Trump.

If he tries to undermine Trump, it will backfire and will just make Cruz look bad.

I’d rather trump pass on him. There are tons of worry people. We don’t need someone who only cares about himself speaking.

He needs to first apologize for his lies, deceit and backstabbing, and then he needs to GTFO.

He has no currency with me. I see him as a RINO traitor.

By his works I got to know him.

If he can be an asset rather than a fragger, I’m all for it. However, I don’t trust Ted Cruz. The man is a known liar.

He’s an ass. If he won’t endorse the candidate, he has no business getting up to talk. Typical Cruz convinced he’s the smartest guy in the room and everyone deserves him.

I hope Trump denies him a speaking slot. Cruz and his buddy Glenn Beck remind me of a traveling revival and medicine show act. Maybe Cruz can put up a tent in a park in Cleveland and put on his show there.

NO WAY. Natural born Canadian Lyn’ Ted has NOT endorsed Trump and he and his legit and not legit delegates are apparently still stirring things up. Cruz should not be allowed on the property, much less a speaking slot. RNC should strip him of Republican membership for reneging on his agreement and release or dismiss his delegates. Zero tolerance for Lyn’ Ted.

I thought when I saw Donald J. Trump’s tweet about this that he was announcing when the Trump Train was going to leave the station. All Aboard! ;-)

It bears repeating.

Vote Trump!

Cruz's future is contingent upon uniting the party in some way, shape or form. He sure made a lot of people asking .

This will be the most important speech of his life and it cannot be about Ted except about his obligations as a Senator.

This is Cruz plan. Give another of his speeches about HIS views and opinions and why they are so important for the GOP to embrace. Get lots of face time.
Then after the convention undermine Trump all he can.
Helps usher Trump to a defeat.

Then the creep starts his 2020 campaign.
