LGBT Gun Group Membership Spikes After Florida Shooting

Memberships have more than doubled in a national LGBT pro-gun rights organization since a gunman opened fire at a gay nightclub in Florida, killing 49 people.

Pink Pistols Utah chapter President Matt Schlentz said Pink Pistols membership has grown from 1,500 to 4,000 since Omar Mateen's June 12 rampage, the Salt Lake Tribune reported (http://bit.ly/29p0eMI).

Actually, here’s my hunch, call it crazy but it is my hunch.

A lot of “gay” folks may discover, if they actually practice with guns that are worth a hoot, they are getting a sense of courage back. And away will dissolve one of the major psychological drivers of the “gay” mindset. I don’t think they’ll turn into gang bangers, but I do think we might find a lot of them becoming straight.

Possibly so. I'd be willing to bet that we'd also find a much lower incidence of low-self-esteem-related life failures and suicides, too. The gay community has a historically high rate of life failure and suicide, and could use some help there. Learning how to properly use, carry, and maintain a firearm can be a strong step. Nothing raises a feeling of self-worth more than the realization that you can and should defend yourself and your loved ones against harm.
