The Stupidity of the Left
American Thinker ^ | July 3, 2016 | Bruce Walker

The lame excuse a sitting attorney general gave for meeting privately with the husband of a prime FBI suspect who was himself a possible target of investigation reveals, if we needed more revelation, the mental vacuity and profound ignorance of leftism. Anyone familiar with the cognitive degradation of Marxism can see the pattern.

When the Bolsheviks first came to power, there were some bright, though of course wicked, minds: Lenin, Bukharin, Trotsky. Soon, however, the Bolsheviks descended into such grotesque mediocrity that even Molotov began to be seen as a clever Bolshevik, and Voroshilov was placed in command of the Red Army.

Academia, of course, collapsed first in the Soviet Empire. Anyone familiar with the last fifty years of that evil empire writes about the utter stultifying stupidity not only of the Communist Party leadership and cadres, but also of university systems, which churned out thousands of scientists who never discovered anything.

What replaced thinking and discovery was mind-numbing conformity. Over time, the only people who could rise in the Soviet hierarchy were men who did not really know anything and did not say or think anything except the comical nonsense of Marxist-Leninism.

Now consider leftism today. Admission to college is given to those groups trained to consider themselves "aggrieved" cadres who are inferior to other students. College courses are often taught by these limited, blindered minds. The legal profession, government, and academia are filled with these unintelligent people, living their own careers surrounded by others just as drearily average and utterly doctrinaire.

It’s not stupidity. I got this from an article I read today. I have not checked the veracity of the cited author, but it makes sense:

“In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control.” -—Theodore Dalyrmple on why Communist lies always seem so ridiculous.

Yes the Left is stupid, compare philosophies

What’s the basic ultimate goal of Leftist vs Righties?

Left: Get the government to do & give you stuff you are too dumb and/or lazy to do or work to acquire yourself.

Right: Get the government to provide freedom & liberty & security so you can do and/or acquire whatever your desires and ability allow.

Leftism IS very stupid. That’s why they can never defend their stupid positions on anything.

This episode was yet another that falls into the category “FU, what’re ya gonna do about it America?” that characterizes this administration.

Everyone has an opinion, the author and both of you and there is nothing wrong with it.

>>Leftism IS very stupid. That’s why they can never defend their stupid positions on anything.

Note that they never TRY. They just tell their lies and demand that you accept them. If you refuse, they accuse you of being closed-minded. That’s why every argument with a Progressive boils down the Prog giving you their feeling on a subject, then demanding endless factual proofs from you, then back to the feelings, and then the final “agree to disagree” statement because of your closed-mindedness.

The quote I gave explains that pattern quite well.

Spot on. Mindless willful ignorance pushed by the left will be our downfall. Lord have mercy.

It’s the same with the homosexual agenda.

The Bolsheviks and Mensheviks at the New York Times want to exterminate Christians.

They want to eradicate any dissent of the queer agenda. They want to force total acceptance of the degenerate, hedonistic lifestyle, including pedophilia, necrophilia and bestiality.

When Christians are killed, I blame the queers at the New York Times for creating the hostile environment.

This is another example of what I call The Double Cover by the Democrat Party.

The Democrat academics lie and confuse and blame others while they steal from students and their parents, but that’s just the first layer of the coverup.

The Democrats realize that their academics might get caught lying and obscuring, so they need another layer of cover.

This is how we get the Academic Egghead and Academic Socialism cover.

The Democrats tell you yes, the academics are lying and obscuring, but that’s just because they are eggheads and socialists.

The second coverup is designed to throw everyone off the trail of looking at where the money in academia goes.

Those professors like their Mercedes and donations to the Democrat Party.

The Leftist academics on campus ridicule, censor, and don’t hire those who disagree with them. This then creates a groupthink environment where Leftism is no longer challenged The Leftists then think that they have won by the superiority of their arguments when, in reality, they have won simply by their thugishness. They live in an artificial cocoon, where they surrounded by syncophant students who want to get a good grade, and by other leftist profs who think the same way, and who would punish any who dare think differently. It is a toxic place for true critical thinking.

It’s not stupidity.
It’s not stupidity. It is corruption. It derives, IMHO, from the inherent negativity and arrogance of journalism, combined with the flattery and derision it visits on the public.

It is all very well for journalists to focus on the negative; “If it bleeds, it leads” is commercially profitable because it interests the public. The problem comes in when people who know they are uninterested in anything positive then proceed to proclaim that they are objective. There is a word for a person who expresses that POV: cynic.

Politicians tend to conform to and promote the embedded cynicism of journalism.

IMHO cynicism is not, by itself, dispositive. The question is, “cynical about what? The journalist and fellow-traveling politicians, union leaders, etc are cynical about the credit which “belongs to the man who is actually in the arena,” who takes risks and works to a bottom line.

The charge of cynicism can be and is leveled at “conservatives” as well - but in the “liberal” telling, conservatives are cynical about government. Reagan’s comment that “government is not the solution, government is the problem” is a case in point. Whether that is arbitrary negativity or simply objective reality can of course be debated in theoretical terms, but it is the case that socialism keeps on being repeated, not because it has worked, but on the theory that “it hasn’t really been tried.” But of course the socialism that works has always been, and so far remains, a paper tiger.

Socialism promotes the idea of goods being free, but the planted axiom of that is that the producer of those “free” goods are to be, to greater or lesser degree, enslaved.

The left isn't stupid.

Liberalism and liberal leaders reign supreme is this country.

Every institution in America is dominated by the Left. Education. Government from local to federal. Media. Entertainment. Politics. Business.

If the Left is so stupid, then what does that say about us?
