IMO, the primary reason is that this liberal Democrat government allows newly minted foreigners with naturalization certificates to get security clearances. At some levels these clearances go up to very very high levels.
Religion and upbringing are overlooked - everything is overlooked save the fact they are “some kind of citizen.”
