IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL07.01.16 2:20 PM ET

Mastermind of Istanbul Airport Attack Had Been Georgian Informant, Official Says

Akhmed Chatayev is blamed for planning the deadly attack in Turkey, and an official says he was on the government payroll before returning to jihad. ODESSA, Ukraine — Sometimes the world of terror and counterterror is amazingly small.

The day after at least 43 people were killed and more than 235 injured in a terrorist attack on Istanbul’s international airport, Turkish officials announced the arrest of the alleged mastermind behind the attack: Akhmed Chatayev, an ethnic Chechen from Russia who, in the past, had traveled extensively in Ukraine, Austria and Georgia.

Here in the Black Sea port of Odessa, in Ukraine, Police Chief Gen. Giorgi Lortkipanidze knows all about Chatayev. The general used to be the deputy interior minister in Georgia, and for a while, he says, had Chatayev on the government payroll.

“A few years ago I recruited Chatayev, who was a good informer and negotiator between us and Islamist underground of the Northern Caucasus; with his help we prevented several terrorist attacks on Georgia,” Gen. Lortkipanidze told The Daily Beast in an exclusive interview on Friday.

Small world my ass, this is not a coincidence. This ISIS warlord was a western asset against the Russians, operating in Chechnya via Georgia and in the Ukraine who was a double agent for ISIS all the time or went rogue on his handlers.

The pattern is forming up so well isn’t it?

“Went rogue on his handlers”

we still don’t know what Omar’s father did for living in Florida, was he a CIA asset?

and that might be a similar pattern with the Boston bombers also.

The double agents go rogue, perfect way for them to worm their way deeper into the apple and then KABOOM.

--------------- I wasn't a member on FreeRepublic for long but I pointed out that "yes, there are indeed Jihad training camps inside America" http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3338327/posts and the Washington Post instantly picked up my post (monitering social media?) to discredit it?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3338327/posts?page=25#25 The Washington Post just quoted and linked to this thread. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/09/18/donald-trump-and-the-terrorist-training-camps-conspiracy-theory-explained/?tid=hybrid_experimentrandom_2_na In a response to Trump’s comments, a commenter at FreeRepublic.com points to the 2006 arrest of Muslims near Virginia — right near “the Virginia Muslim cemetery [where] the Chechen who bombed Boston was buried.” We’re through the looking glass here, people.

The Chechen Boston Bomber's uncle has links to the CIA it seems. Lot's of Muslims moved to Virginia near CIA and other important intel and spook centers?

All I know is:

1. Turks downed a Russian bomber

2. 'Russians' bombed down some Turks

Chechens fleeing Russia living in Turkey as jihadists bombed the Turks. Why? Muslims are like that - they turn on the hand that feeds them. Turkey turning to Russia may mean the Turks realized that ISIS they nurtured is now more of a threat than an asset. Especially since the rise of ISIS helped the Kurds gain favor with Russia and the West.

Putin started arming the Kurds and that scared the Turks shitless.

“Why do they keep calling these idiots masterminds?”

Certain forms are used in journalism that are supposed to instantly invoke an entire backstory with just one word. Adding “gate” to an whiff of scandal, for example. The authors think they are being clever but it is just an excuse for lazy writing.

Incidentally, ask somebody born since 1980 and they have no idea what gate signifies. They never heard of the Watergate break-in.

Kind of sounds like a released Gitmo detainee returning to jihad. What a surprise.

@trumpinator: You are deleting important information. From the article:

For more than a year, Lortkipanidze said, he was pleased with his “recruiter and informant,” Chatayev. “But then he turned against us and we arrested him. In August of 2012, a group of radical militants was going to cross [into Russia] from Georgia and Chatayev said he was Muslim, he could not abandon his brothers” by informing on them, Lortkipanidze said.

Chatayev was charged with illegal possession of explosives. But he was released shortly after, in spite of protests by then lame-duck President Mikheil Saakashvili (now the mayor of Odessa) and Lortkipanidze.

“The problem was that the government in Georgia changed and in a couple of months the new authorities dropped the charges against Chatayev,” said the general, and this is where things get conspiratorial a typically Caucasian way.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/07/01/mastermind-of-istanbul-airport-attack-had-been-georgian-informant-official-says.html

Russian national Akhmed Chataev is reportedly the main organizer of the Istanbul airport terrorist attack. He was arrested by my government in Georgia in a counter-terrorist operation led by general Giorgi Lortkipanidze, presently the Head of the Odessa Police. Three members of our security forces were killed in that operation. After the change of government in 2012, the new Georgian government, led by Russian oligarch Ivanishvili, promptly freed him, as many of the new government leaders proclaimed him as a political prisoner. I was still a President and strongly objected against his release, but was overruled by the Prosecutor’s office.

Turkish police are hoping to track down Akhmed Chataev, an IS commander with at least 130 militants at his disposal.

FSB is shipping islamists to Syria to fight with (not against ISIS/Daesh) http://www.novayagazeta.ru/inquests/69364.html

The agreement between Akhmed Chataev and FSB is that they will protect him if he use his terrorists according to the suggestions by his handler. That is why he was released in Georgia.

You are deleting important information. From the article: I did not delete anything - I excerpted the article copyright purposes. The full article is available for all to read with a click. So I don't appreciate your terminology.

Secondly, I have to take what that Georgian Lortkipanidze says with a grain of salt to cover up their involvement with a known Islamic terrorist.

Russia is not shipping Islamists to Syria - just because they come from Russia does not mean they were shipped from Russia. Muslims all over the world travel to Syria and NATO ally Turkey facilitated this and maybe even the CIA.

Trying to blame Russia for having a Chechen Islamist problem is the domain of neoconish scumbags who advocate overthrowing Assad in favor of Sunni jihadis.
