But that afternoon, Mr. Cruz came upon Mr. Clinton at the airport, where both men happened to have landed for events for the respective campaigns.
Angel Urena, a spokesman for Mr. Clinton, and Catherine Frazier, a spokesman for Mr. Cruz, both confirmed the encounter, but declined to discuss any details of what happened or what they discussed.
But according to three people briefed on the interaction, who were granted anonymity to describe the meeting, Mr. Cruz had landed at the airport before Mr. Clinton did, for an event tucked into his schedule just a day earlier. The Secret Service traveling with Mr. Clinton established that Mr. Cruz was on the other plane with a small coterie of aides; when Mr. Cruz learned that the former president was there, he expressed interest in saying hello, according to the people briefed on the encounter.
The visit, in many ways, was a vintage performance for Mr. Clinton, who as president made a point of attempting to charm political rivals. That is not an approach that Mr. Cruz has taken since becoming a senator, although his rise in politics was fueled in part by personal relationships with members of a Washington establishment that he publicly disparages.

What, is this supposed to draw a parallel with Clinton’s airport meeting with Lynch?
As far as I know, Ted Cruz isn’t involved in an ongoing investigation.
Watched the segment on O’Reilly with the reporter that broke the Clinton/Lynch meeting last night, and it was pretty apparent that they didn’t want any of this getting out to the press.
The reporter heard from two airport sources, who didn’t know each other, about the meeting. Apparently, the FBI and SS people with Lynch and Clinton, respectively, were shooing people away and not allowing them to take pictures. Very sneaky, if you ask me.
Bill Clinton is having meetings now on planes now????
This is rather odd...
I was wondering if this was something former president Clinton did regularly...so at least we have one example, although the interest seems to have come from Cruz.
Maybe these private plane owners regularly use the tarmac as a place to meet and greet, discuss grandkids and golf scores?
The NYT methods are as transparent as ever. I’m sure an editor put this reporter on the case to dig for such a parallel so that the suspicions regarding Lynch and Mr. Bill could be quashed.
Except, NYT, there is a criminal investigation ongoing and your tit for tat story is a non-starter.
Both #nevertrump-ers.
Did you hear the reporter say that he has as yet been unable to get verification that Bill did actually golf in Phoenix.
Is this contrived meeting an indication that Clintons are very concerned about the server investigations?
Or maybe Bill really does hate Hillary riding on his coattails or on Huma’s for that matter.
You might be on to something there.
Wonder if Bill was on Jeffrey Epstein’s private plane?
Just shows that Lynch and Clinton spent atl east one half hour with no one else present
Bill may have been on Epstein’s private plane but I’m certain the lavatory basin has been scrubbed and any DNA evidence lost to the ages.
I did catch that. I have no doubt they are concerned, because she is guilty.
Any person working in national security would be fired and prosecuted for what she did.
WSJ story says he was there for a fundraiser which is more plausible than ‘cardiac’ Clinton golfing in 108° + heat. Whether this version adds to the believability of the whole “chance meeting” meme is something else entirely
4 paragraphs of preamble. bye Maggie, bye Matt.
Bill Clinton ‘learned at the foot’ of his friend Jeffery Epstein - - if you want TOTAL privacy talk on a plane YOU have control over. Guess the bed wasn’t necessary for Loretta...
I suspect the Cruz-Clinton meet was nothing more than a social event. NOT SO with Lynch.
The Times, as usual, is all in for those who want to change America beyond recognition.
Trump will have that down pat. He invites people all the time to look at his jet. What’s one more ;-) Trump can trump Slick Willie on this one.
