Following the Brexit, Europe may witness even more plebiscites against the undemocratic European Union throughout the continent.
The furor of ignored Europeans against their union is not just directed against rich and powerful government elites per se, or against the flood of mostly young male migrants from the war-torn Middle East. The rage also arises from the hypocrisy of a governing elite that never seems to be subject to the ramifications of its own top-down policies. The bureaucratic class that runs Europe from Brussels and Strasbourg too often lectures European voters on climate change, immigration, politically correct attitudes about diversity, and the constant need for more bureaucracy, more regulations and more redistributive taxes.
But Euro-managers are able to navigate around their own injunctions, enjoying private schools for their children; generous public pay, retirement packages and perks; frequent carbon-spewing jet travel; homes in non-diverse neighborhoods; and profitable revolving-door careers between government and business.
The Western elite classes, both professedly liberal and conservative, square the circle of their privilege with politically correct sermonizing. They romanticize the distant "other" -- usually immigrants and minorities -- while condescendingly lecturing the middle and working classes, often the losers in globalization, about their lack of sensitivity.

Did VDH have to end an otherwise excellent essay on this note?
And this is exactly what Obamacare exemplifies. The demrats stole our healthcare for the DC lawyers and exempted themselves. To their frail credit, all republicans voted against it.
I wished it hadn’t
Exactly
Sounds like here to me.
VDH is an academic, and he writes for National Review. He can’t admit he is for Trump. He has to limit his compliments to the back-handed variety.
So his commentary tends to spell out why Trump is right on everything, and then lament that the guy who emerged to lead the fight is named “Trump”. Yes, its a bit gutless, but he wants his stuff to be read by people who wouldn’t read it if he was openly for Trump.
Then he ruins it with the last paragraph. What a cigar smoking, brandies in the library, patches on the elbows of his tweed jacket simpleton.
As a long time reader of not just his columns, but his books as well, VDH is anything but that stereotype.
“America’s version of the British antidote to elite hypocrisy is the buffoonish populist Donald Trump. Like the architects of Brexit, he arose not from what he was for, but what he said he was against.”
Complete and utter bull. What a moron this guy is. All that article, full of captain obvious words that is simply common sense, and then the last paragraph is tagged on unfounded disdain for both the average citizens of the United States and Britain and Donald Trump personally.
The last paragraph is 100% incorrect. It could not be any more incorrect. The American people of course know of the hypocrisy, its certainly not a priority of concern though. The idiot acts as if all we want is for the “elite” to suffer with us. No, moron, we want the elite to stop being communists, globalists, amoral, evil and forcing the citizens of the world into an atheistic slavery. We want our national sovereignty and all other nations want theirs too...well, except for the aforementioned globalist elite of those nations.
Make America Great Again - that’s what Donald Trump is for.
Make America Great Again - that what all true Americans desire. The unthinking unAmerican lemmings of Townhall/Salem Media Group despise the United States of America, just as they despise the United Kingdom. They despise them not for what they are for but for the communism they are against. To them, the United States of America and all that she stands for is “buffonish.” Poor things.
Igor came back with the wrong brain again.
My thought also
My apologies. I must have him confused with George Will. Or Glenn Beck. Or Brad Thor. Or Steven Hayes. Or Thomas Sowell. Or Jonah Goldberg. Or Rich Lowry. Or Mark Levin. Or David Limbaugh.
Get the picture, Sam?
Signed, Buffoons for Trump.
‘America’s version of the British antidote to elite hypocrisy is the buffoonish populist Donald Trump.’
Screw you, VDH
Obummer wants muslimes to define our First Amendment rights.
Even so I'm voting for the guy that will drive up to the Whitehouse in a clown car rather than the dyke who would be driving there in a stretch limo with tires soaked in the blood of her many victims.
So in essence, he’s a coward. No surprise there.
When a man can’t openly stand for what he believes in, then I have no desire to consider his words for they are an attempt to mislead.
