Obama Makes An Impossible Clean Energy Promise
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 6/28/2016 | Staff

Energy: At a "Three Amigos" summit in Ottawa this week, President Obama and the leaders of Canada and Mexico will pledge that in less than a decade, half of North America's energy will come from "clean" sources. The administration calls it "ambitious." We call it "ludicrous."

Since the U.S. accounts for three-quarters of the total energy produced by these three countries, the responsibility of living up to any such agreement would fall most heavily on the U.S. So is there a reasonable chance that the U.S. could achieve such a goal?

Let's look at some of the relevant facts.

According to the Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration, "clean energy" -- nuclear, hydroelectric, solar, wind, biomass, etc. -- makes up less than one-fifth of U.S. energy production.

Nuclear accounts for a little more than 8%, biomass just over 4%, solar and wind 3%, hydroelectric a bit more than 2%.

Democrats just say stuff.

It has to sound good. It doesn’t have to mean anything.

he is just reinforcing Hillary’s statement about replacing the lost coal industry jobs in West Virginia with good clean energy jobs.

I can’t comprehend why the Friends of Coal and West Virginia haqve not let a contract on Barack Obama

The administration calls it “ambitious.” We call it “ludicrous.”

Simple, elegant, well stated

There is more than one way to skin a cat...

It's easy to have 50 % of the energy come from "clean energy" when other cheaper energy like coal, LNG, is so expensive nobody can afford to buy it...

That's their real goal...

If you’ve ever yearned to travel the US and see our magnificent landscapes, you’d better do it soon. All of the gorgeous vistas will be covered with thrump-thrump-thrumping windmills soon. Already some of our most scenic areas are covered with these monstrosities..

Odd that gasoline is not even mentioned as an energy source. By the end of the year, I plan to double my gasoline consumption.

Once again, Obama is focused on the global warming threat while the world is being blown up and attacked by Islamic terrorists. I really think he is either insane or stupid.

Not to mention the damage done to Montana and Wyoming coal industry (plus regulating the Bakken oilfields into a near-depression PLUS the blatantly political Keystone pipeline cancellation)....

I guess somebody's sensing the negative vibes around here, though.

I don't recall a Democrat politician or any of the 0's bureaucrats going anywhere near those areas and the number of vehicles with gummint plates on highways anywhere East of Yellowstone Park has dropped to almost nothing. (Except for the Reservations' police cruisers....and the BIA is running short of tribal members to be those cops.)

Of the lot, only nuclear has any real potential. The demonicRats, of course, hate it with a white-hot passion.

The problem with wind and solar is you still need a secondary conventional generating station for when the wind doesn't blow and the clouds are out. So you have an additional facility you have to maintain for that reason.

Yup.... bird and bat choppers and fryers are as clean as clean can be. Pretty soon the only birds left will be non-flight ones.... chickens, turkeys and kiwis.
