“These people” are liberals. Liberal’s think (they actually do think, but usually not very quickly) they are the most brilliant of human life forms, and that everybody not them is downright stupid.
Muslims are to liberal perspective sub-human life forms to be used as an army for the gain of the liberal Socialist-Democrat party to conquer, and subject the intellectual infidels (that’s you, and I) to their convoluted perspectives they could otherwise never achieve within the system of this constitutional republic.
The liberals believe they are controlling the Muslims, therefore are confused that you ask.
They’d rather background check you when you go to buy a single-shot .22 than to do background checks on muslim “refugees”.
