A 27-year-old man who brought a firearm to a parking garage near the site of Donald Trump's rally in The Woodlands was released without charge shortly afterward because he has a handgun license, authorities said Monday.
The man was detained Friday after he was seen abandoning a black backpack, which contained an unloaded revolver, in a garage near The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, authorities said.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Secret Service, which provides security for the presumptive Republican nominee, questioned the man before determining that he had not violated any state or federal law, said Capt. R.V. Silvio of the sheriff's office.
Silvio said two arrests were made at the rally, which drew thousands of people to the suburban hotel. Perry Osborn-Johnson, 27, of Houston, and Michael Adam Read, 42, of Cypress, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

For a second I though this was the guy they just grabbed the other day.
abandoning a black backpack, which contained an unloaded revolver
makes no sense
Unless he figured out he was in deep sh!t by having the weapon (legal or not) anywhere near Trump was. Maybe he just figured he could stash it and come back and get it later.
He must have a good believable story for it that he told the police but they aren’t elaborating.
It was a drop-off.
What is a drop off? Bring gun to the real shooter? Where is the ammo?
Bingo. Exactly what I was thinking.
Makes sense. Sorta like when you are at the airport and realize you have a pen knife with you and need to stash it outside security.
“Bring gun to the real shooter? Where is the ammo?”
The dropoff provides the gun, the pickup has the ammo?
That to me deserves some charges... Is it legal to leave a handgun laying around anywhere? Especially in an abandoned backpack...
I don;t think it matters if he has a handgun license- he was not carrying it- he LEFT IT in a bag.. there's somethign not right about that. Who leaves a gun? It's not like they are cheap. Did he just forget it was in there?
A drop off is what I was thinking.
Each part seperately wont get you into AS MUCH trouble-
One person (or more) try to sneak in an unloaded weapon, others try to sneak in ammo, I am very concerned about Trump’s safety.
My guess, and with a piss poorly written story like this that is all you can do, the backpack was “abandoned” in the trunk of the mans’s car.
Legal gun owners and CCW licensees are the most law abiding people in the United States.
Shame on you for trying to think of a rational explanation.
