3 Good Reasons Trump Fired Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski
Fiscal Times ^ | 6/20/16 | Rob Garver

3. Lewandowski was ousted as a peace offering to an angry GOP establishment.

The Trump campaign’s increasingly fraught relationship with the Republican Party establishment, particularly the Republican National Committee and top elected leaders, is growing into a serious problem for his campaign. Trump ran as an outsider, in a campaign choreographed in large part by Lewandowski. He spent months attacking the establishment for “rigging” the primaries and delegate selection processes against him.

Even after becoming the nominee, Trump’s attacks continued. As recently as Saturday, Trump continued to claim that he could win the election without the support of the GOP establishment.

Maybe someone he trusts finally sat Trump down and explained reality. His utter lack of a national campaign infrastructure and his apparent inability or unwillingness to do the fundraising that a presidential candidacy requires combine to make him uniquely reliant on the RNC and the goodwill of elected Republicans.

Perhaps getting rid of the guy who was running the show when Trump’s anti GOP rhetoric was at its height is meant as a sign of the long-awaited “pivot” toward a more traditional campaign.

A sign that this might be the best explanation of Lewandowski’s ouster is how the campaign handled it. Trump is famous for firing people and loves to tweet about how someone who has offended him was “fired like a dog.”

Lewandowski, though, was sent packing with a verbal pat on the head from Trump’s communications director, Hope Hicks, who wrote in a statement, “The Donald J. Trump Campaign for President, which has set a historic record in the Republican primary having received almost 14 million votes, has today announced that Corey Lewandowski will no longer be working with the campaign ... It’s nonsense. They’re trying to spin it as weakness. He told people he was exhausted, and Trump needs to ramp up.

People should just watch what Cory says himself in the Fox interview instead of this wild speculation.

Agree 100%, but where is the fun in that! If wild speculation were not practiced we would be missing a lot of posts around here.

I am amused watching the media spin all this “Trump is doing bad” crap. It’s hogwash. Few people are even paying attention right now and I imagine most have made up their minds. The mushy middle seems to be trending towards Trump - that bodes well for November. This is a marathon - not a sprint, but considering the primary performance it is safe to say Trump has a brisk pace established in the first half of the race. No reason to expect he will not finish strong. Hillary already looks like she is out of gas.

Guesswork as usual by MSM. It’s killing them that they don’t know.

More punditry from the lame stream

No one has said so frankly we don’t know.

Trump is the candidate let’s help him rather than trying to tear him down

Corey helped Trump get this far. He doesn’t forget good work.
Corey will land on his feet with a high paying job in the Trump Empire if he hasn’t already started one

Couldn’t agree more.

Dear Corey will not be forgotten for his fabulous Primary management for his friend’s campaign, his attitude match with TRUMP, and his selfless loyalty to him.

Methinks that personal sacrifice is a given in all battles and Corey made history running this campaign!

He has nothing to regret, should be very proud, and is man enough to know that even by this separation he still is advancing the GOAL— to make a PRESIDENT...TRUMP.

May God bless Corey. He will be political gold now.

I do not understand your animosity.

The author of this article is serious and means it when he says these were good reasons.

It is a pro-Trump article.

If you disagree with number three, then you agree with me and others.

Screw the GOP establishment. In the words of their RINO ex-prez, you’re either with us or you’re against us. I don’t really feel like making a peace offering with a bunch of lying liars.

It has been reported that he has a new job at RNC

Cory is very good at winning insurgent primaries but maybe not the best for a presidential general election

Still a lot of down ticket national and local primaries fir house and senate to run for election

In other words (your words, that is)...pandering to the GOPeee.

Give it up, dude. You're already sufficiently loathsome.
