U.S. military says will not disclose details on injured service members

The U.S. military will not provide details on specific cases of American service members injured in Iraq and Syria because it could give information to Islamic State militants, a Pentagon spokesman said on Tuesday

The spokesman, Peter Cook, was responding to a question at a Pentagon press briefing seeking confirmation that four Americans had been wounded in Syria earlier this month.

Cook said there had been no a change in policy and aggregate numbers would still be provided.

"Our policy is not to identify wounded service members for a variety of reasons, including operational security, including privacy reasons," Cook said.

"Also, we do not want to provide additional information to the enemy that might enhance their own assessment on the battlefield situation," he said. However, the Pentagon has released such information in the past and responded to queries, and it was unclear how Cook's comments were consistent with previous disclosures.

Last month a spokesman said two U.S. service member had been injured, one each in Iraq and Syria, during the last weekend in May. Captain Jeff Davis said the incident in Iraq took place in the north, near Erbil, while the injury in Syria was north of Raqqa, Islamic State's de facto capital.

Yeah, I’m SURE that is the truth.

Just like they didn’t want to give a propaganda victory to those nasty evil extremists when they redacted the Orlando 911 transcripts.

LYING LIARS WITH NO HONOR.

But, but.. I thought our military were merely 'advisers' with no combat roles. How do advisers get combat injuries?

COVER-UP.

Thinking about this, and factoring-in the Orlando & San Bernadino shootings, I’m thinking that withholding names is a good idea. I can foresee Obama’s Syrians targeting these soldiers or their familes here in the US. Many of these soldiers are Special Ops types.

OTOH, the public has a right to know the casualty figures.

When Russian jets drop cluster munitions on them. Not to make light of it. Just pointing out that our guys are serving along side those that the Russians & the Asad regime are actively targeting.

Wonder if maybe it is because then we know where all BO has sent our guys, what they are doing, how many are injured and the extent and type of their injuries.

Supposedly an anti tank missile hit a vehicle the 4 advisers were located near. They are back in operation now. Just minor injuries. They suspect ISIS. Would be interesting to find out if they were injured by one of Obama’s anti tank missile gifts or by one of Hillary’s anti tank missile gifts.

I have the same suspicion. The US is backing and providing battlefield support to Islamic terrorists and may have been bombed by the Russians when the US jets failed to provided adequate air cover.

The Russian SU-34 is a fairly long-range bomber aircraft — analogous to our F-15E. When they were challenged they egressed the area, but when our F-18’s had to pull-out to air-tank they came right back & bombed the positions we were there to defend.

I’m still wondering if Obama is willing to give the order to splash Russian aircraft. Is he that stupid? Is anything that is going on in Syria worth that?
