What’s super sad is that when I started counting all of the mainstream media reporters I respect I didn’t run out of fingers. Most of them are just what Glenn “Instapundit” Reynolds memorably labeled “Democrats with Bylines.” And that’s literally true – something like 90% of them are, in fact, Democrats. And they act like it. So when Trump refuses to play nice with them, or I hear about another round of lay-offs, the best I can summon up, if I’m in a generous mood, is a half-hearted “Meh.”
The MSM, of course, wants to have it both ways. It wants to be hailed as an institution composed of crusading truthtellers whose integrity and willingness to speak truth to power make them the cornerstone of a free society. Except most of them are really partisan hacks who lie endlessly for the liberal politicians they suck up to. Their relationship with Democratic politicians is less speaking truth to power than sexting their masters. When it comes to covering for their progressive pals, it’s “50 Shades of Newsprint” and the MSM eagerly chomps down on its ball-gag.
They don’t even bother hiding their agenda – apparently they noticed that no one believed their protestations of objectivity anyway and decided it wasn’t even worth the effort to fake it anymore. Donald Trump says enough dumb stuff on his own, but the MSM still feels it needs to misreport and misrepresent him. When he – quite correctly – suggested that there was something weird about Obama’s inability to place the blame for radical Muslim terrorism on radical Muslim terrorists, this became “Trump Says Obama Supports Terrorists.” When he pointed out some troops (Trump says he was referring to Iraqi troops) in the Middle East were corrupt (sadly, some were), this became “Trump Calls All American Soldiers Thieves.” If Trump says he inhales oxygen, the headline will be “Trump Admits He’s Just Like Hitler.”
But with Hillary or Obama, it’s the reverse. At best, they report on facts that manifestly demonstrate her guilt of multiple felonies and misdemeanors, yet make sure to undercut their own reporting by asserting she can’t possibly be indicted. The media can’t shut up about Trump U, but the $16 million the Bill and Hillary Graftatron 2016 nabbed from Laureate U? Apparently all the news isn’t fit to print.
The MSM is shameless. For example, when some gay Democrat radical Muslim slaughters LGBT clubgoers and then Anderson Cooper attacks the (Republican) Florida attorney general for not being sufficiently open to same sex marriage, it’s pretty clear whose team CNN is on. That’s the same CNN that cut off my mic when I dared point out Hillary’s active enabling of Bill Clinton’s sexual abuses instead of being outraged by Trump using the word “schlonged.” There are some good people at CNN, and the staff is always very nice to guests, but it’s in the tank like Dukakis.
So we’re supposed to bewail the travails of these people? We’re supposed to get all fussy when Trump stands up to them and pulls their credentials? Note that’s “pull their credentials,” not “bar them from his rallies.” Now, if these journolosers want to cover Trump, they’ll have to wait in line with those unwashed, dirty people known as “Americans.” Ewwww. This is the greatest atrocity in all of human history – Trump denying his active opponents a back stage pass to facilitate their lying about him.
But what really, really grates about these ardent defenders of the First Amendment is their ardent hypocrisy when it comes to the First Amendment. They complain about Trump’s new “no cutsies” policy and they bemoan the fact that Trump thinks it should be easier to sue journoliars who lie about him because the MSM feels the First Amendment should allow them to lie about him with impunity (and on that they are right, but they are still terrible). Apparently these things set us firmly on the road to fascism.
But what doesn’t the MSM think sets us firmly on the road to fascism? Liberal attorneys general persecuting and prosecuting people for “denying” the leftist lie about global warming. The IRS targeting Obama’s political enemies for advocating against liberal policies. The abusive sham government investigation of people speaking out for Governor Scott Walker. These actual campaigns of very real government suppression of dissenting speech are apparently cool with the MSM because the targets are on the MSM’s enemies list.
And how about the media cheerleading for the repeal of Citizens United. At the end of the day, Citizens United allows the government to put people in jail for criticizing politicians – the case involved the government’s ban on a movie talking smack about Hillary Clinton. Of course, the ban on free speech that Citizens United found unconstitutional – because it was a ban on free speech – excludes one key group. Want to guess who?
Media companies.
Yeah, the MSM thinks the government being able to jail other people for speaking out is terrific as long as this constitutional catastrophe doesn’t apply to itself. The MSM is happy to defend only its free speech, and to the last drop of other peoples’ blood. They think it would be perfectly fine with the government having the ability to cart off, say, the members of Combat Veterans for Liberty if they dared belittle Her Thighness.
But what do you expect from the kind of people who join the MSM? Instead of the colorful ink-stained wretches of the past, today’s journalists are social justice twerps whose daddies can shell out north of $59,000 to get a degree in what old school reporters learned on the job – though old-school reporters didn’t have the dubious benefit of leftist indoctrination and diversity seminars. Today’s cloistered creeps utterly missed the anger among normal Americas that led to Trump, but then they don’t think much of normal Americans. Recently, Karen Tumulty of the Washington Post took umbrage at one of my tweets and sneered, “Beginning to understand why you will never #readabook.” Her bio indicates I have more degrees than she does. Nice reporting there, Scoop.
No wonder public regard for journalists hovers somewhere between “Raw Sewage” and “Herpes,” yet they still assume they are better than everyone else. I’ll remember that when I toss Karen a quarter out the window of my fine German sedan as she and her pretentious dinosaur media pals stand by the freeway off-ramp with a sign reading, “Will Reinforce the Leftist Narrative for Food (Locally Sourced Only).”
Sure, technology is causing disruption in the industry, but the MSM would be better able to weather the storm if everyone didn’t hate it and want to lock it out of the tornado cellar. The MSM has nothing but contempt for us, and now it’s getting it back in kind. Trump being mean to you? Aw, poor babies. Your newspaper going under? Here, hold this anchor.
I don’t worry about the journalists I respect – there will always be a market for quality. It’s the hacks and flunkies I won’t miss. And their misfortune won’t even earn a “Meh.” It’ll earn a smile.

The key here is First Amendment Rights that shield the press should only be extended to actual journalists. Propagandists don’t deserve it nor should they. True SJWS would insist on justice. They should be prosecuted.

The media needs competition. It is a corrupt, massively effective propaganda organ for the left.
What America needs is more journalism. By everyone. First Amendment Rights should be more broadly protected. For everyone.
That is my view anyway.

You’re right. What wastoute and so many others fail to understand is that propagandists ARE journalists, just of a different kind then straight news reporters.
It’s one thing to complain that there are fewer straight news reporters around, but journalism as a field encompasses so many different kinds of communication that to think straight-up reporting is the only true form of journalism is just ignorant.
I agree, ideally more liberty is the direction to move but a mechanism to restrain antisocial behavior is wanting and needs to be found. Quickly. We have tried shame for decades but shame is water off a duck to those who lack morals. Something that works is needed and fast. While force is a last resort we need to understand just where we are in history. As in science, books are 5 years out of date when published. Our perceptions as a whole are inevitably behind reality by varying amounts, individually. Those of us paying careful attention are closer to reality, IMHO.
In any case, our first step toward restoring our Republic needs to be fixing the broken MSM. Prosecuting the criminals seems to me to be the time tested way of restraining the behavior of those incapable of self governance.
Libel and slander and fraud should be prosecuted, yes, but journalism also includes opinion writing, creative writing, documentaries, cause advocacy, restaurant, product, and film reviews, all kinds of communication which can be highly subjective and prone to agenda-driven persuasive efforts and hype, spin, embellishment, you name it.
Mine is just a suggestion. Do you have ideas that might work to address this? It does appear that technology like the Internet has the potential but it also hands a megaphone to delusional, vicious, sociopaths so technology may be an answer but will it work in time? It seems to me the libtards have already corrupted this. I surfed into a show, “Internet ruined my life” that is instructive. Vicious animal rights hactivists making death threats and other reprehensible behavior. It seems we have a hurdle yet to deal with on making the Internet an engine of Liberty rather than oppression.
Even a coyple of liberal heavyweights on a discussion panel a couple of years ago complained about the dishonesty of the left-leaning MSM, and declared loudly that Bret Baer at FOX News had the ONLY true straight-up news report show on TV!
Straight news is the journalism commodity many bemoan as lacking and scarce, and it is, but unfortunately it’s very common that people think that the word “journalism” only refers to straight news.
I think I may have caught part of that doc. Anyhow it seems new laws have come about regarding internet abuse, related to things like cyber-stalking, bullying, harassment, swatting, electronic theft, phishing, hacking, piracy, copyright violation, and so on, but also nobody forces anyone to log on, and caveat emptor/grain of salt always applies, too.

My point is we have to realize the is a real army of vicious psychopaths on the Internet that are leveraging their power through violence and intimidation. Patiently waiting for a free market solution to the problem they represent may well be handing our enemies an advantage they have not earned or deserve. We need to recognize we are already in a Civil War with these libtards just one that has not yet become too bloody. The libtards think they can import Muslims to provide the necessary violence for their side while they sit in their gated enclaves directing their useful idiots who are just cannon fodder for them anyway. Fox New Channel & Fox Business Channel has ben handed & given, a magnificent gift by the other cable news channels & legacy TV stations, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. Rupert Murdoch & Roger Ailes have gone about 75% pro “Trump”, and the TV viewers ratings show that FOX has hit a bonanza of millions of viewers who are abandoning, the Obama/Clinton biased networks.
Trump....wise that he is, just about now only appears with O’Reilly, Greta, Fox & Friends, Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Stuart Varney and even Megyn Kelly, on occasion. “Morning Joe”, over at MSNBC is in freefall relative viewers tuning in!! And.....CNN is just simple known by all, as the Clinton News Network!!! What a bunch of morons!!!
This morning on MSNBS Joe and comp were talking about how Trump is basically insane! They blathered on and on on how Trump should be talking the economy and illary. I thought to myself, when in fact has he not? And then I remembered, now Trump is attacking obummer! To dem that makes him insane, but in fact it makes dem insane:-)
