"Why are Baltimore's violent repeat offenders getting away with murder?"

Hmm. Just can't figure this one out. I am stumped...let me think. Hm. Can't even imagine why.

Could it be because the people responsible for overseeing law enforcement have told the police in no uncertain words that they need to give violent lawbreakers "space"?

Well, it seems everyone and their dog is buying guns.

Because, as the policeman in the movie “Chinatown” said to Jack Nicholson, “It’s Chinatown”. Now “It’s Baltimore”.

Was there today for a few hours to visit a relative. Won’t go downtown if you paid me. All my old neighbors are like war-zones and shooting galleries.

That is why Baltimore is a liberal/Democratic black shithole. Those who were sane left it long ago.

Well ya know, maybe Baltimore is another Philippines or at least Davao City waiting for its Duterte.

I am in Davao City now. In the 80s, Davao City was a hell hole. Then, Duterte and others came along, and determined they would change that. They did.
I have been to the Hall of Justice, and seen paperwork, and court files stacked up to the ceiling. Maybe justice is meted out some other way? At any rate, it is safe to walk the streets of Davao City, day and night.
Other places are not so good. Sometimes there are incidents like Maguindanao, Ipil and Mamasapano, but I think Chicago and Baltimore are worse.

Let’s see:
Baltimore, population approximately 600,000 had nearly 350 murders last year.

San Jose, population of more than 1 million....approximately 40 murders.

Do you know the way?

1-Cops and courts have been bullied into inaction.
2-Decent citizens have been disarmed.

Well yes, it is... the vigilantes don’t care about the paper. If someone tries to get paper going after the vigilantes, it is likely inexplicably lost, if the complainant isn’t also...

People will not put up with an utter anarchy.

Having lived up in the Arlington, VA area....I am familiar with Baltimore to some degree.

People with real jobs, real income, real status....don’t live in Baltimore county (even if their job is there)...the majority live south in the Glen Burnie to Annapolis corridor, or all the way out west to Frederick (50 miles away). What you notice after a while is that Republican voting trends go high in the Frederick region....as to like 10-percent in Baltimore county itself.

The tax base is slowly dissolving Baltimore. The state income tax will continue to provide for the city....but if you were looking for sales tax revenue....it’s not the same as it was in the 1980s...except for tourism still being a big deal in the harbor area (cops patrol there and keep things safe so tourists think Baltimore City is ok).

Within the city limits....it’s mostly a third-world place where you’d just laugh about the way that the city runs operations and conducts safety. Eventually, I think someone will develop a 15-mile ferry ride from across the bay (going east) to the more rural area of Maryland and folks will just ride into the city for job, from a ultra-safe home area.

I really believe it’s a deliberate policy of our rulers to let these criminals, and the insane, terrorise the ordinary people. Here in the UK, day by day, criminals get less deterrent. (Though you dare to try to defend yourself and whooo you’re in deep trouble.)
For example:
I live a “safe” area. Last week, in a nearby public park, on Saturday afternoon, a guy attacked two young women with a knife, stabbing one in the stomach/ abdomen. Seemingly, at random and unprovoked. The perp was arrested and charged – but released next day!!!!
The local police have advised the public to be “vigilant”.
PS No description of the perp, apart from “male aged 47” (anything more might “infringe his civil rights”) so the general public have no idea who they are meant to be vigilant about.

Didn’t T. Rowe Price move a bunch of their operations out to Owings Mill many years ago?

Seems to me that this should be POSITIVE story. More people are being mugged, killed, raped, and assaulted - that tells me that the city has LISTENED and is no longer sending their black boys (the ones causing the trouble) to jail. Sounds like a SUCCESS STORY!

The real question, as I see, is who are we to IMPOSE OUR VALUES on them? If they want their troublemakers to not face jail, then they should get their way - providing people with different value sets (i.e., us) are given fair warning to stay clear - and they keep their dirty work within city limits.

There is risk involved in going after the real killers. Why take the personal risk when you can arrest a corner boy

Check out the Cost Benefit Analysis for probation vs. incarceration in Baltimore County. Drug & traffic offenders are not jailed - they get probation.

A white drug user moved in with the next door neighbor - and soon thereafter my home was vandalized & burglarized while I was on vacation (cost me plenty). The cops suspected him because of his long rap sheet, but could find no evidence.

For prior crimes; rather than jail, he has been sentenced to supervised probation (less expensive).

It’s cheaper for the system if he just wanders around snorting and stealing. But for the general public, property loss and personal safety is at risk.

As a single senior, I have moved to a safer place.
