Millennials’ Healthcare Problems: Insurance Is Terrifyingly Expensive And Highly Confusing
International Business Times ^ | 08 June 2016 | Elizabeth Whitman

The millennial generation still hasn't figured out healthcare. It can be prohibitively expensive and painfully confusing yet required by law, so how do they deal?

They skip healthcare, struggle to pay bills and ask mom what to do, according to a new report by the nonprofit Transamerica Center for Health Studies.

The center's findings, based on a survey of 1,171 adults aged 18-36 in the United States, also found that those who lacked health insurance were disproportionately female, people of color, younger, less educated and unemployed.

The proportion of millennials who don't have health insurance has declined significantly in recent years, from 23 percent in 2013 to 11 percent today. It was in 2014 that the Affordable Care Act, the landmark healthcare reform law often referred to as Obamacare, went into effect.

But having health insurance does not mean they're educated or financially equipped to make use of it.

Ding ding ding, that is why I don’t have. I had a simple plan, that cost less then $170 a month that covered everything, once Obamacare took over, the price jumped to $500 a month, I said screw it and cancelled it.

I am in my 30’s, I don’t need $500 a month insurance with a $1000 deductible, the $170 a month didn’t even have a deductible, it was paying more for less. Only a sucker would play that game

By design, but I can simplify it:

Ya pays your money (or else), and ya gets nuttin'.

When the government tells you that you owe maintenance fees on your body, they are telling you they own your body.

Whats that social construct called where one group of people owns another group of people?

“I am in my 30’s, I don’t need $500 a month insurance with a $1000 deductible”

I think you will find the price now is over $750 and the deductible is $5,100 or more.

ObamaCare is nothing but a citizen’s tax and should have been presented to the supreme court in that light.

"ObamaCare is nothing but a citizen’s tax and should have been presented to the supreme court in that light."

To take that a bit further, Obamacare is the most massive transfer of wealth from the middle class to the parasite class ever in the history of the country or world.

Just went on Obamacare. 20 a month prescriptions are now 400 a month. Which is ok, because after I spend 7000 on deductibles I can get the 20 a month back.

I have to find a new job just for benefits.

The video was nauseating. The two guests were coming up with all kinds of tortured reasoning to explain this phenomenon, rather than the obvious truth.

I don’t think Obamacare sees 2018. The wheels are coming off even faster than anyone predicted.

...and yet just last night our thin-skinned poseur-n-chief was telling the nation (on Reality TV...) just how wonderful he has been to us over these 8 (very long) years...

Would have been the perfect opportunity to run one of those old SHAM-WOW commercials.

For a millennial, a credit card with a $5000 limit is better and cheaper than Obama care. This credit card should be reserved for medical expense alone.

All 3 of my kids will need it! My niece thought she didn’t need it, and then she fell and broke her collar bone. Her mom bailed her out and then she got insurance.

Too bad they are so easily confused. Otherwise they’d know to thank the democrats instead of blaming republicans who said what would happen at the time the democrats were passing obamacare.
