Zika Prompts Pregnant NBC Anchor Savannah Guthrie to Pass on Olympics Assignment
Breitbart ^ | 7 june 2016 | Breitbart

Pregnant TV anchor Savannah Guthrie took advantage of NBC Universal’s decision not to require employees to attend the Olympics because of the Zika virus to announce on Tuesday that she will pass on the trip to Rio. The Hollywood Reporter described Guthrie as the “most high profile TV personality” to back out of the Rio games due to the mosquito-borne disease.

For those who contract Zika, the illness is usually mild, with symptoms of fever, rash, and joint pain lasting for several days. Normally, the virus does not require hospitalization and rarely causes death. However, in the case of the virus infecting women during a pregnancy, Zika may cause microcephaly and other developmental problems for the offspring. Guthrie, 44, does not want to risk any complications for her second child in making the trip to South America.

Get ready for a worldwide outbreak of zika after the Olympics. Here's why:

1) People from all over the world will be traveling to Rio.

2) These people will be bitten by mosquitoes carrying the zika virus.

3) They will travel back to their home country carrying the virus within themselves.

4) They will be bitten by mosquitoes in their home country and transfer the virus to the local mosquito population.

5) The local mosquitoes will bite other people giving them zika.

I'm not kidding when I say there will be a worldwide epidemic.

These Olympics should have been cancelled for health reasons. It's estimated a half million people from around the world will attend the Rio Olympics.

Zika does not spread differently from dengue, but the symptoms are mild (and it probably does not cause birth defects). If we can stop dengue at customs we can probably stop Zika. A quicker better test would be desirable, but this is a completely overblown threat.

The problem is that there are Olympics. It would make so much more sense to have events in different parts of the world, already equipped to handle them.

Think of Lyme Disease. Once it became established, it will never go away. What about Ebola? Just because there's no outbreak now doesn't mean that it won't keep showing up. And now Zika.

What's astounding is that with all the war, migration, and horrific living conditions in so many areas, there hasn't yet been a pandemic that wipes out huge swaths of global population. At some point, it's inevitable that it will happen.

6.) It was a mistake to even contemplate holding the Olympics in the 3rd world hell hole.

Your points 4. and 5. are what I have questioned.

Is it only the Aedes mosquito that can transmit the virus?
Or can someone come back, after being bitten in Rio, and transfer it further through the bite of a different species of mosquito here?

The information I’ve seen hasn’t been clear about this, but I’ve gathered that only the Aedes species can carry and transmit it.

I don’t know why our northern mosquitoes wouldn’t acquire and transmit the Zika the same way as any other Zika threat mosquitoes. If they suck the blood out of a Zika person, they have just acquired the virus. What do they do next?

They aren’t reporting the obvious right now because they want the “how could we have known?” excuse for not barring and quarantine of Zika carrying humans.

Has anyone considered the use of DTD ? Worked before and I am quite sure it will work again. If it gets bad enough maybe it will be re-considered.....just a thought

Not as long as the left worships Rachel Carson (morons in Pittsburgh named a bridge after her) and the EPA (their first big coup for banning a relatively harmless chemical).

The added mosquito is native to North America.

Well, the Aedes mosquito has appeared to be adapting to the Southern US in recent years, so we’ve probably already had cases without knowing it.

I just haven’t found any clear information as to whether Zika can cross into other mosquito species at this time.

I’m not sure the Zika-capable one has been in the past; but it appears to be moving in:

Just think, they could have held the Olympics in Chicago like Obama and Oprah wanted. Then athletes would only need to worry about stray gunshots at all times of the day and night.

It’s a ridiculous notion that we wouldn’t have knowledge as to whether or not each of our native species of mosquitoes are Zika threats. They just need to put a Zika infected animal in a room with clean mosquitoes of any chosen species then remove the Zika-infected animal and send in some non-infected animals and see if those animals become infected. It’s just that easy.

You are asking good questions. A female mosquito sucks blood and then lays eggs, and then mates again to my understanding and the cycle continues, so I guess the larva have the virus? Hopefully it’s all a big nothing burger.

Silly Brookhaven, don’t you know that pandemic is part of the elite agenda?

Not so much for reducing the population, although there’s that - It facilitates solidifying control over the levers of power and governance.

The elites benefit from crisis, always. Look for Obama to declare that Rio is safe.
