Get ready for a worldwide outbreak of zika after the Olympics. Here's why:

1) People from all over the world will be traveling to Rio.

2) These people will be bitten by mosquitoes carrying the zika virus.

3) They will travel back to their home country carrying the virus within themselves.

4) They will be bitten by mosquitoes in their home country and transfer the virus to the local mosquito population.

5) The local mosquitoes will bite other people giving them zika.

I'm not kidding when I say there will be a worldwide epidemic.

These Olympics should have been cancelled for health reasons. It's estimated a half million people from around the world will attend the Rio Olympics.

Zika does not spread differently from dengue, but the symptoms are mild (and it probably does not cause birth defects). If we can stop dengue at customs we can probably stop Zika. A quicker better test would be desirable, but this is a completely overblown threat.

6.) It was a mistake to even contemplate holding the Olympics in the 3rd world hell hole.

Your points 4. and 5. are what I have questioned.

Is it only the Aedes mosquito that can transmit the virus?
Or can someone come back, after being bitten in Rio, and transfer it further through the bite of a different species of mosquito here?

The information I’ve seen hasn’t been clear about this, but I’ve gathered that only the Aedes species can carry and transmit it.

Has anyone considered the use of DTD ? Worked before and I am quite sure it will work again. If it gets bad enough maybe it will be re-considered.....just a thought

Just think, they could have held the Olympics in Chicago like Obama and Oprah wanted. Then athletes would only need to worry about stray gunshots at all times of the day and night.

Silly Brookhaven, don’t you know that pandemic is part of the elite agenda?

Not so much for reducing the population, although there’s that - It facilitates solidifying control over the levers of power and governance.

The elites benefit from crisis, always. Look for Obama to declare that Rio is safe.

“Ahhhh, we’re all gonna die!!!!!”

Give me tough-ass AMERICAN studs like Gabby Douglas, our gold medal gymnast who said basically screw that, this is the Olympics, she’s going, she’s not afraid of some stupid bug! I love that!

We have deteriorated as a nation of the best, toughest, and strongest into a bunch of wusses.

Go Gabby, it’s women like her that this country needs in so many ways.

Smart move. Of course the left will excoriate her for failing to abort and take the opportunity.

Good to see she cares about her child.
