U.S. Senate: Kamala Harris leads O.C.'s Loretta Sanchez, both beat GOP for November runoff

California Attorney General Kamala Harris opened up a big early lead Tuesday over Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Orange, in the race to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer.

But Sanchez led Republicans Duf Sundheim, Phil Wyman and Tom Del Beccaro – and the rest of the 34-candidate field – laying the groundwork for what would be a November race between two Democratic women. California’s open primary sends the top two vote-getters to the November ballot regardless of party affiliation.

“Harris, who is half African American and half East Indian American, would become the only black woman in the Senate. Sanchez, whose parents are Mexican immigrants, would be the first and only Latina.”

So Pubbies will never, ever, be elected in California again.

California has permanently skewed the entire national political landscape. It is the Democrats firewall.

Until what happened in the Soviet Union and East Bloc (basically going bankrupt) and collapsing under it’s own weight and contradictions. A few years ago, I watched a documentary on the beginnings of Silicon Valley and it was hard to believe that people went there at one time because it was so business friendly and the taxes were so comparatively lower than New York or New Jersey or Pennsylvania (how it got started in the late 1950s).

It’s disturbing to see that California elects politicians like Brown or Harris or Sanchez. This is largely because people like the lawyers or bankers or stock brokers or bond traders or currency dealers or actors/actresses or high tech executives (who sent their labour offshore years ago to escape American regulation) can afford to vote for them and look hip by doing so.

There was actually a congressional district that D+10 but the 3 hispanics split the democrat vote and this relatively good Republican there named Miller I think.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Miller

In 2005, Miller cosponsored the Border Protection, Anti-terrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005 (H.R. 4437) with representative Jim Sensenbrenner. In 2006, after widespread demonstrations by immigrants, Miller wrote: “Too bad their protest didn’t include giving up government-paid social services—because a day without illegal aliens would be a boon to U.S. taxpayers.”[24]
...

On paper, Miller faced daunting odds. He was running in a district that he had never represented before, had a sizable Democratic lean and was majority-Hispanic. Had it existed in 2008, Barack Obama would have won it with 56 percent of the vote. However, due to California’s new “top-two” primary system, the three Democrats in the field split the vote, allowing Miller to come in first with only 27 percent of the vote while a fellow Republican, State Senator Bob Dutton came in second with 25 percent while three Democrats split the remaining 48 percent of the vote. In the general election, Miller defeated Dutton with 55 percent of the vote.

http://www.fairvote.org/fix-the-top-two-primary-admirable-goals-dont-justify-indefensible-outcomes

Even worse, the key statewide contest for controller nearly advanced two Republicans despite Republicans collectively only capturing 45% of the vote.

“Harris, who is half African American and half East Indian American...”

If my math is correct...that would make Harris half American, one quarter African and one quarter East Indian.

Loretta Sanchez, member of la Raza.

Kamala Harris, member of Wall Street cronyism, sitting on $300M that Gov. Brown mis-appropriated until a court ruled against using the National settlement funds to pay down housing bonds issued by the state. Not a dime has been used to defend homeowners against the bankers and CA judiciary intent on clouding every residential property title while extracting every last dime from homeowners flailing in this liberal socialist ‘economy’.

Some choice ....
