and with all the outcry and attention on this case, no one takes serious the chronic abuse by Bill Clinton as brought by a number of women. And the key thing is, the presumed Dem nominee turned a blind eye to women who said they were raped/molested/abused by her husband.

Tie it all in GOP and Bring it to the Microphone. SOmeone, please.

The only thing that could go right is if the rapist was kicked out of the school! With an entry on his permanent record sent to every other college. That would make the 6 months in jail partly justified.

A jury ... found Turner guilty ... interrupted by two graduate students who saw him assaulting a partially clothed woman behind a trash bin. Turner tried to flee, but the students tackled and pinned him down until police arrived and arrested him.

I'm surprised that the sentence for a rapist was so light. With the jury conviction, it wasn't a plea bargain. With the witnesses who interrupted the attack, it wasn't a he-said/she-said where there is uncertainty on her willingness. I would have preferred a sentence of 5-10 years in prison.

If he had a six year sentence, he could probably get a free college education in prison.

Was their some doubt as to consent? Is this a case where it is presumed rape because of intoxication and inability to consent?

Me too, but nobody asked me.

I read somewhere that the light sentence was because a stiffer sentence could "seriously impair" Turner's life.

Well, gee, I suppose that's true, but don't actions have consequences any more?

News video show Turner chewing gum in court.

Lots of remorse/respect there

The worst thing is it lets Kennedy off the hook. From now on, this guy is the swimmer.

Yeah, I can see where those pre employment interviews would go with this guy: I see here you have a 5 month hole in your employment history, what is that about? Oh, I was giving back, kind of doing community service. Well, since I cannot do a criminal check on you, I guess I will go with your statement and hire you beginning tomorrow.

Yes, the jury believed that she was unable to give consent. This story is causing a national discussion, and unlike the UVa fake rape, was a real incident corroborated by witnesses and medical evidence.

The victim’s statement has gone viral. This is just one link of many I found.

He is now a registered sex offender. Same as if he did it with underaged kids.

Interesting, though, don’t you think, that only one of them raped the other.

I'm not sure Ted ever was "the swimmer". I've always considered him more as "the floater".

Any judge who could say such a thing probably has a very interesting thumb drive somewhere.

so the woman gets drunk to the point of unconciousness, at a frat party no less, wakes up in a hospital remembering nothing, then writes a letter that goes viral and we are supposed to be outraged? Sorry, actions have consequences.

No need to even make any notations, he’s killed anything worthwhile for himself. Chewing gum & looking like an arrogant punk didn’t help. I do believe in second chances for most people. I also believe that the person who did the wrong must go thru something life changing to truly seek redemption.

* My grandfather’s best friend was named Ace, so I have a soft spot for that name. I haven’t thought of Ace in forever.....he was a really nice man.*
