Millennials, who first arrived in 1980, are the largest generational group in American history. As such, they tend to have a deep-seated, some would say exaggerated, sense of their own importance. Now that the last of the millennials, those born in the late 1990s, have reached voting age, the millennial generation is exerting ever greater influence on presidential politics. The campaign of Bernie Sanders, one of the most radical leftists ever to run for the presidency, is almost their exclusive preserve.
Sanders's platform is well targeted to the idealism of most millennials. It offers free universal health care ("Medicare for all"), free college tuition, a $15 minimum wage, expanded federal housing subsidies, immigration reform (including "dismantling" detention centers and allowing illegals to receive Obamacare and other federal benefits), LGBT rights, further climate change restrictions on fossil fuels, support for the Iran deal, making the wealthy pay "their fair share," and a host of other liberal proposals.
The great thing is, according to Bernie, that all of this costs us practically nothing. Almost all of it would be paid for with new taxes on corporations and the rich. And in Bernie's world, corporations and affluent investors would not pass along these costs to consumers. They would just take the hit and keep providing goods and services at the same cost as before. LOL.

I’ve heard an old joke or old saying, to the effect that young people get more conservative when they go to work.
Reason being, they get a job, which pays “X” amount of money, and they consider they will be doing well with such a salary. But then, they get their paychecks, and see that their take home pay is “X” minus a third or more, to pay for various withholding taxes, health insurance, etc.
Just an old anecdote, but, I’m sure this makes an impression on some, when they see how much in taxes they pay when they go to work.

And those feelin’ the Bern think all these people and businesses are just going to stay in the USA and get ripped off?
If by chance Sanders won the election in November, they all would be ‘outta here!’ before 2017 rolled around.
“As such, they tend to have a deep-seated, some would say exaggerated, sense of their own importance.”
That’s why they think their style of “protest” will change the world but they haven’t got a clue.
They all have younger brothers and sisters who will be turning 18.
Someone just like Bernie WILL be elected POTUS.
Sooner rather than later.
I blame Google. This is the first generation that grew up with a pre existing Internet. Google revolutionized the internet by offering free services for the masses, while behind the scenes charging others for advertising and access to user data. What Bernie is doing is the same thing, offering benefits to voters while charging someone else.
Yep, reality begins to bite.
I’m not sure that applies to many (not all) of the Millenial generation. They look at that and think someone else should compensate them for that, i.e. take more taxes from someone else (the rich).
It did on Mrs WBill.
We got married, and she immediately went to work in a professional capacity, after working for a number of years at low-wage, hourly jobs. First year, she read over our tax returns. "IS THIS RIGHT??!!", approximately, was her comment (imagine it delivered in a screech).
"Yup.", sez me. I'd been working professionally, earning a decent salary for several years, getting robbed by the government wasn't unexpected.
"THIS IS MORE MONEY THAN I'VE EVER MADE BEFORE NOW! THIS IS MORE THAN MY COLLEGE TUITION!!!!".
"Yup. You understand now, why I pushed you to look at 401k's and other tax breaks. That saved us a bundle, it could have been much worse."
"WORSE!!!!!??" .... and it went on from there. My lovely wife has become far more conservative. Some of it is age, I'm sure, and having kids will do that too. But the first bucket of cold reality over her head was paying taxes for real, with real money that she earned, for the first time.
You are correct that the internet culture that everything should be “free” has a HUGE influence on their political thinking.
This is the generation that put the record industry nearly out of business through rampant pirating. Whose only moral sin is asking them to pay for the bandwidth they use.
I would only remind people of one thing, it is out of this age group that the majority of the people are who volunteered, fought and sometimes died on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. There are many responsible members of society in this age group also.
Exactly. And this age group is also providing many of the troops for Trump’s campaign.
It's sad to think, however, that millennials are just one EMP blast away from almost complete helplessness.
Except none of them plan on working. They get ‘social justice’ degrees, and live with their parents. They have no intention of growing up.
//making the wealthy pay “their fair share,//
Try to get someone to define ‘wealthy’ when they use this argument. What is wealthy to one is not to another. And ‘fair share’? I pay more than my fair share in taxes.
Having a lot of these tools work their fair share would be nice.
That goes back way before the internet.
Inevitably, higher taxes on businesses usually results in higher consumer costs. We, the consumers, will end up bearing the burden of higher costs of goods and services.
Well, that is Sanders’ expectation.
I’m saying those individuals and businesses that can leave will leave. And the system will collapse.
