Obama is kicking them when they are down

VFW and American Legion are a shadow of thei heyday 1960s and 70s

It was mostly a WWII thing and we know they’re almost gone

Around here the posts are mostly gone or transformed to community things for Friday nite fish fries and whatnot

In Fairhope Alabama the two posts occupy opposite sides of old 98 in the curve below town headed to Point Clear

I think the VFW hangs on but the Legion is a big old white community thing with great fish on Friday nite on the bay under live oaks and moss

We would buy beer on Sunday’s at the VFW in 74-75

Many a WWII vets drowned their demons at the VFW’s.

My mom and dad spent lots of time at the VFW post. They weren’t rich and it gave them an outlet for some fun with like-minded folks!
