Why does the White House need a fence? Didn't always have one. In the 1930's a citizen was driving his convertible down Pennsylvania Avenue when a storm shower erupted. He pulled under the White House canopy to raise the roof. A [colored] White House usher came out and lent a hand. We live in awful times.
