Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) will absolutely not be an independent candidate for president in November, his team confirmed to Breitbart News on Monday morning. A high-placed source close to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has also confirmed that it will not be him running against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump and likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in November. Another high-placed source, this one close to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), has confirmed that the Texas senatorTrumps last serious competitor for the GOP nominationwill also not be launching an independent bid for president in November.
Sasse, an outspoken critic of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump from the beginning, has said he will not support Trump in the general election against Clinton.
Sasse is still holding out against Trump, drawing criticism from even his fellow Nebraskan Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE)who told the New York Times his strategy would hand Clinton the election.
I dont agree with his strategy, Fischer said. Im not going to hand this election to Hillary Clinton.
Bush and Trump, meanwhile, tangled roughly during the primary, and he has said he will not support Trump in the general election. Trump repeatedly called Bush low energy, and Bush made himself the tip of the spear against Trump for some time. Trump succeeded, while Bush failed, in the primary. Bush dropped out after a dismal performance in South Carolina, but he still refuses to back Trump against Clinton. ...
Sources close to several other potential high-profile independent candidates, such as 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney, have not yet confirmed one way or the other whether they are going to run.

Well, Romney has certainly shown himself to be enough of an a-hole to be a spoiler. If he did run, I can’t say what I’d personally wish on him, but it would involve feathers, a plumber helper, marshmallows, a turkey baster, and 42 cans of spam - original flavor.
Kristol want to block Trump from getting an electoral college majority and then win in the House of R. Romney could win Utah and Idaho with the Mormon vote already. Probably a few Plains states too.
It’s a flat out dangerous idea, as we would then have an illegitimate president viewed from both the right and left.
I thought Mia Love was on board during her campaign. She came to Constitutional Conservatives to finance her campaign, claiming to be one of us. Hasn't she been iffy since she got to DC? And Mike Lee? I gave him a pass for sticking by his friend Ted Cruz with an endorsement. But he's got to get his priorities straight and realize that Cruz is part of the globalist cheap labor scheme.
How about I say instead The Mormon Church is part of the grand globalist scheme? It's up to individual Mormans to publically renounce Mormons who are cheap labor un-American globalists. Does their "Church" allow them to do that?
Trump is right in saying that the RNC can and should nip this Kristol business in the bud and scare off current Republican office holders from taking up Kristol’s call.
The RNC needs to warn past, present or future Republican political office holders thinking of running as Kristol’s third party spoiler candidate that if they chose to run, that they will forever be expelled from the Republican Party and barred from seeking any elected office as a Republican at any level (federal, state or local).
If they want to run for reelection, it will have to be as an independent, third party or as a democrat.
That should stop current or future GOP political office holders from taking up Kristol’s cause.
Bill Cristol, like nutcase, Glenn Beck is not wrapped too tight in the brain department!!! End of story!!!
If there is a run by an independent boosted by Kristol, electing Hillary is the idea.
An independent has no chance and it’s too late to get on the ballot in Texas, which has a lot of electoral votes.
Also, for those who don’t know, Gary Johnson is not an independent, he’s the nominee of the Libertarian Party.
So who is it? A politician from the past? A big mucky-muck in the party? It's got to be someone willing to slit their own career throat to prove a point. If it is anybody who ran in the GOP primaries and signed their name to that pledge to not run as a third-party candidate and to support the party nominee, then they are dishonest and disingenuous because they would be breaking that pledge.
Oh, but then I forget. Most politicians are crooked and dishonest by their mere job descriptions alone.
It’s Kasich. .
Our county GOP Party Chair is a Delegate and says he will vote for Kasich. Our convention is June 4th
Kasich
Nope...Kasich
Kasich already ruled it out.
He is a sitting republican governor. Running for president as an independent might be a problem.
Good, at least that...
You got that right...my vote for Mitt was a vote against Obummer. If he were the Republican nominee, I’d vote for him again against Hillary. I would never vote for him against the present Republic nominee and front runner...TRUMP! However, some would, and assure Hillary the Presidency. Dirty tricks at its finest.
It won’t be a Democrat because that would hurt Hillary.
It has to be a Republican whose career is dead.
Given that, Romney makes sense.
So does Ron Paul.
The BERN is an Independent, has a team in place, has millions of votes, hates that the nomination will be taken from him.
He’s perfect, and Kristol must be salivating.
Bern takes votes from Hillary so no way he’s the one.
Mia love endorsed Rubio, then Cruz. Someday she’ll figure out how to pick a winner.
I’d like to see Ron Paul in the Trump administration, to deal with the Fed.
