trump-sanders debate would be hillary's worst nightmare
CNBC ^ | may 26, 2016 | jake novak

Just when you thought the 2016 election was starting to get a little predictable, a big wrench has been thrown into the works.

A Donald Trump vs. Bernie Sanders debate in the coming days before the June 7th California primary is getting closer to becoming a reality. If this happens, it will likely be a huge boost for Sanders, a mild aid to Trump, and -- to borrow the key buzz word of this election so far – a YUGE pain in the neck for Hillary Clinton.

the article links to a cnbc video (your money, your vote?) in which a DNC spokesperson (Morris Reid) is clearly on the defensive when addressing the challenges facing hillary right now on the campaign trail... Boris Epshteyn does (imho) a very good job defending Trump and the grassroots Republican point of view...

Actually imho Trump’s debate air time would be better spend pounding Hillary, since Sanders has no chance of winning the general election. Trump should preface each response by a polite deflection while graciously thanking Sanders for his opinion. That way, he will peel more Sanders voters away from Hillary once Hillary steals the Dem nomination from Sanders. He can be explicit about that, too, during his debate air time. Trump needs to give disenfranchised Sanders voters a chance to vent their frustration by voting Trump over Hillary.

I think the Venezuelan Bolivar is cheaper. And comes in a maximum 100 note, so you just need a backpack full of them to buy a roll of toilet paper.

It will be a Hillary bash fest. Trump and Sanders will walk away from it buddies and Trump will make Bernie a great deal he won’t want to refuse.

It makes Hillary look like she is afraid of Trump, too.

There is some precedence to this. In 1980, Jimmy Carter decided not to debate John Anderson as he did not want to "legitimize" his candidacy. So Ronald Reagan debated him instead, one-on-one.

This did not end well for Jimmy Carter.

It’s more free air time for Trump.

He is a maestro!

His handling of Obama’s attack was beyond masterful: “We WANT them Rattled!”

Trump is so real.

Just heard on special report on Fox that negotiations behind closed doors are taking place for a trump and Sanders debate... Charles K. said, “genius!” of course they made fun of it but that it’s gonna be bigger than the Super Bowl. And that Hillary will Come out the loser!!!

FoxNews was slated to carry the last Hillary/Sanders debate, wasn't it? Sounds like the prospect of the debate coming off is pretty likely.

Hillary called into CNN. Blitzer asked her what she thought of the possibility. She said that it wasn't serious, and that there would be no Sanders/Trump debate. So much fun to have her speculation proved wrong.

Hillary status as a loser will be confirmed by the debate. Sanders status as a contender will also be confirmed and hopefully get him enough votes in Kalifornia to further damage herself.

When the biggest leaders held a great debate about the future of America, Hillary was not even invited. Not even to the kids table.

If the debate does take place, I think Trump should not go for the kill - instead, he should “sandbag” Sanders and let him come out of it thinking he’s held his own against Trump. This will allow Sanders’ supporters to claim that their guy is a better choice for the nomination, and could hand the California primary to Bernie, causing further chaos among the Democrats heading into their convention. A bad performance by Bernie would benefit Hillary, who would then say “see, he’s no match for Trump, but I am!”

“It will be a Hillary bash fest. Trump and Sanders will walk away from it buddies and Trump will make Bernie a great deal he won’t want to refuse.”

That is how I see it. Hillary is going to come of it the biggest loser. I don’t think Trump will hit Bernie all the hard.
