Pope and top imam embrace in historic Vatican meeting [Rev 13]

VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis embraced the grand imam of Cairo's Al-Azhar Mosque at the Vatican on Monday in a historic encounter both sides hope will lead to greater understanding and dialogue between the two faiths. The first Vatican meeting between the leader of the world's Catholics and the highest authority in Sunni Islam marks the culmination of a significant improvement in relations between the two faiths since Francis took office in 2013. "Our meeting is the message," Francis said in a brief comment at the start of his meeting with Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, shortly after he had hugged and kissed his guest, Vatican officials told a small pool of reporters covering the event.

In a statement on the trip, Al-Azhar, an institution that also comprises a prestigious seat of learning, said the two sides had agreed to convene a "peace conference." A statement quoted Tayeb as telling Francis: "We need to take a joint stance, hand in hand, to bring happiness to humanity. Divine religions were revealed to make people happy, not to cause them hardship." The imam’s deputy, Abbas Shuman, told Egyptian TV channel CBC that the two leaders had agreed to resume dialogue and that the proposed conference would cover the issues of poverty, extremism and terrorism. The Vatican did not immediately confirm the conference plans. A spokesman said the talks had been "very cordial" with the imam spending 30 minutes with the pope and just over an hour in total at St Peter's. [...]

Ties were badly soured when the now-retired Benedict XVI made a September 2006 speech in which he was perceived to have linked Islam to violence, sparking deadly protests in several countries and reprisal attacks on Christians...

"...[Muslims] worship the one living and merciful God, and call upon him in prayer." - Pope Francis (First Ecumenical and Interreligious Event, March 2013)

The Bible foretells that in the last days just before the return of Jesus, an international religious figure will rise on the scene uniting the world's religions. This religious figure will look like a self-sacrificing, godly, philanthropist. A real lover of man, the earth, and peace! He will appear harmless as a lamb, but when he speaks, he speaks like a ravenous dragon. He denies the triune God of the Bible when he says we worship the same god as the singular Allah (a betrayal of 2000 years of Christian Martyrs who died confessing Jesus is the Christ of God, 2nd person of the triune Godhead.) The coming religious figure, will feign faith in Jesus Christ in order to direct everyone to worship another political figure who will be promoted to help solve the world's problems. Somehow this religious figure is so intertwined with politics and the economic system, he is able to promote a new worldwide economic order where all must have the the political figure's "mark" on their person (forehead or right hand) in order to purchase, and to show loyalty to the "new world system". The Bible is also clear that whoever receives this "mark" will be damned to hell, with no hope of redemption. I am not sure if Pope Francis IS this religious figure. If not, he is certainly a wonderful forerunner. Every time he opens his mouth, he continues his foray into the world religious, political, and economic orders and his consistent promotion of Islam and Allah as God of the Bible, homosexuality, and Marxism/Socialism betray his "inner dragon"...

Revelation 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein * to worship the first beast, whose * deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak , and cause that as many as would * not worship the image of the beast should be killed *. 16 And he causeth all, both small and great *, rich and poor *, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand *, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell , save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Dude: what you said. However, I am not as articulate as you.

Thus, a haiku:

This spineless Red Pope
Not a Defender of Faith
Says “Please kill us last!”

This Pope is, MOST regretfully, selling us out to the IslamoNazi enemy. Either due to incredible ignorance of Islamic anti-Christian teaching, the 1400 year history of Islamic attacks and murders of Christians and church burnings, and current events....... or...... he’s just a very evil man. I can’t know which, but the result is the same. He sure is a disappointment (after the last several Popes especially). Please Pray, pray for the Church!

One has to appreciate the irony of this statement.

I wonder about the theories of people who try to do this, sometimes.

I’ve been told with apparently straight face (of course a bboard doesn’t show everything) about how Catholics have worked salvation to people who never did seem to want to have anything to do with worship of Jesus Christ. I guess the church believes itself that powerful? Or is this a flight of fancy?

Of cuss I’m just a crazy protestant. So my being all gaga about Jesus and His ultimate non-delegation of His glory, might be dismissed.

He clearly knows his theology. That he says what he says about Islam seems like he is deliberately stating a lie. That is never a good thing when a pontiff deliberately lies.

I would consider it quite an admirable thing to attempt to evangelize among Islam and I would not care who managed to share Christ with them. Denomination would mean nothing; it’s Christ that would mean everything. If it was Pope Francis... well that would be God’s will if it happened. Far, far, far be it from me to complain!

But. Reducing Christianity to “morality” is, at most, a huge exercise in iffiness. People can be moral and still lost, because of the reasons they are being moral. This should be real, not Memorex.

There would never have been any protestants if it were not for the Catholic church existing in the first place.

There would never have been any Catholics had they not split from the main church... be careful, that line of discourse works too well. Luther wasn’t the first to say ciao to what was regarded as an untenable system.

I imagine the Orthodox are rolling their eyes at this, too. Who gave this chap this power, and if it’s real shouldn’t we see certain consequences?
