Better watch what you put in email.
The Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday approved a bill that would make it easier for the government to read what you're writing online....
The bill is the latest move by the federal government to shore up its powers when it comes to surveilling citizens. The government has been battling Apple and other tech companies for more access to data stored on devices. Law enforcement argues it can't fight crimes unless it has access to information on mobile gadgets. Technology companies and rights groups argue that features like strong encryption, which scrambles data so it can be read only by the intended recipient, are needed to keep people safe and protect privacy.
Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) and Vice Chairman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Tuesday in a joint statement that the 2017 Intelligence Authorization Act makes it easier for the government to keep Americans safe....

Remind me again, who controls the Senate? Why do I even bother to vote.
Its going to keep us safe? Well, that makes it OK then. While they're at it, why don't they pass a bill to allow the government to raid our houses without a warrant too. That will really keep us safe.
get back to you later. Busy deleting emails.
wait, that doesn’t work, does it?
...packing bags
Sounds like a potential law that would be in violation of an Amendment!
Waterboarding would do a much better job of that.
Yep.
that won't help either ...
AKA Business as Usual.
Wait, the FBI can’t read my email now? Really?? What the hell are those guys doing, sitting around playing checkers or something? Get on the stick!!
Here in TX, one of the Candidates in the TX GOP Primary Run-offs for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals had “the 4th amendment us not being honored”as part of his platform. He lost.
They already do (snoop w/o a warrant). The proposed law would just allow the material to come into court without a warrant.
Do you think that these imbecilic watchers of emails, will be able to decode archaic languages, should they be employed?
It was brought up on, nowhere else than an old TV “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea” episode employing the musical scale as ‘a language’.
In all the computers, since we have no one capable, anymore, of the mental acuity equal to Benchley Park, I do not believe that ‘all’ the efforts of ‘anyone’ have been ‘successfully’ decoded. I refer to the Voynich Manuscript, as an example.
“Theban, anybody?”
[Wait, the FBI cant read my email now? Really??]
I hope they like daily devotionals.
They’re snooping on you to find “enemies”. Their definition of “enemies” is not the same as ours....
Busy deleting emails

Don’t delete add leftist and democrat diatribes to your emails and always be immune. /s
The evolution of "reasonable expectation of privacy" law, as it relates to the telephone, is quite interesting.
SCOTUS first take was that wiretapping does NOT require a warrant, because there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in a phone conversation. Congress passed a law making wiretapping illegal.
SCOTUS has since changed its point of view, and it will no doubt, absolutely, change it again in the future.
Keeping us safe my azz. We can't even count on the DOJ to keep us safe from a Hillary state department. What they want is to archive everything on everyone for the time when they decide they want to take a look at you should you piss someone off. Then they dial up the NSA data center and take a look-see at a treasure trove of personal effects and conversations which you've had for all of time.
Bingo! Keep the Ellen Show in your favorites bar.
They've got a pretty good start on attacking the 1st going. (think you can criticize a muslim, or a sexual deviant of the flavor of the day, or actually run your business according to your beliefs? {snort})
Now they're coming after the 4th. Well, they've been working on that one for a while now, in secret. It is just coming to light how pervasive government surveillance of us is and is becoming.
What constitutes an email? I think we all think we know... But what about a message via social media like facebook or G+? Or a "video" email privately shared on YouTube? Or a text message or tweet - just short emails? Posts on online forums like FR, private messages on same? Most of these share many characteristics - digital data in a store-and-forward scheme with some user control over who can access it. If you're going to let the government access any of it without a warrant, you know the case will be made (and won) that they should be able to access all of it. Well then, gee, voicemail is just digital data in a store-and-forward...
If you look up "slippery slope" in the dictionary I'm pretty sure you'll find a reference to this somewhere in the vicinity. If not, just ask the NSA and Google, they apparently index everything... wait, BRB, gotta go answer a pounding on my door... ;-/
