Two internal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) committees secretly control how billions of dollars are spent, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation has found.
Congress appropriates about $1 billion annually for EPA’s Superfund program, and the agency has accumulated nearly $6.8 billion in more than 1,300 slush fund-like accounts since 1990.
Two committees consisting entirely of EPA officials meet behind closed doors twice annually to decide how the agency spends those funds on highly polluted – and often dangerous – Superfund sites. All reports to and from the groups, as well as the minutes of their meetings and all other details, are kept behind closed doors.
“The National Risk-Based Priority Panel and the Superfund Special Accounts Senior Management Committee engage in pre-decisional deliberations which are internal to the agency and not open to the public,” an EPA spokeswoman who requested anonymity told The DCNF.

Its a badly-kept secret that US Gov’t bureaucracy fund friendly NGO’s through methods like this. A typical method devise a policy that has not been approved from Congress, have an environmental NGO sue the government to implement said policy, have a friendly court agree - and then claim “our hands are tied - the courts have forced us to do XYZ.”
Tell me again why we worked so hard to elect a Republican controlled Congress.
There shouldn’t even be a federal EPA.
If you only knew what happens behind closed doors dealing with your money usually decided by lawyers you’d be shocked.
Government is the means whereby money is taken from those who earn it and given to those who vote for the politicians who give them money.
Cut EPA budget and staff by 90% and strike all regulations set in the past 10 years.
Same for the other fascist agencies, as its the only way to clean house against the liberal tide.
One more Agency that should not exist.
The FAA is another big culprit in ignoring public input. I can site at least two FAA rulings in which the FAA/DOT completely ignored public input before making rulings.
Hopefully President Trump will give full reign to a Mamma Grizzly and eliminate this monster.
The left should be building statues to honor one of the best friends they ever had.
Trump needs to create a temporary position of one for a hatchet man like Paul Manafort to shut down this agency and others like it.
To our useless, dysfunctional delusional GOPe Congress...
