The avid proponent of American liberty and individualism, Sen. Rand Paul took the stage at the NRA-ILA forum and spoke of our natural right to own and bear arms.
"We must always remember that the Second Amendment can only properly be defended when we defend the rest of the bill of rights. You can't defend the second Amendment unless you defend the First amendment," Paul said.
He went on to warn the audience of the trampling of the Fourth Amendment and how important it is for governing bodies to acquire search warrants before investigating individual citizens.
He also mentioned new legislation that proposes veteran's with PTSD not be allowed to own firearms.
"I'll be damned before I let the government take guns from the veterans who fought to preserve this country," he said. "I will do whatever necessary to defend our god-given rights."

“I will do whatever necessary to defend our god-given rights.”
“our God-given”
Grammar and other language rules are no longer taught in the United States.
Urinalists. They KNOW everything. Or not.
“God Given Rights” means that the government can’t touch them!
If they try we fight!
What an odd way to introduce Paul and begin the article; as though being a proponent of American Liberty and individualism is an unusual and infrequent thing. From the writers perspective, I imagine it is......
“Be damned!”, or well paid off.
Well...you see, the big problem is, the liberals are Godless... Unless, of course, you count Billary, their God of the moment...
So, in their opinion, the government can give and take your rights, money, food, your children, whatever, anytime they damn well please.... That's why those buggers are working night and day to destroy the church and the religious foundations of our nation....
No God.....No God given rights...
“You can’t defend the Second Amendment unless you defend the First Amendment,” Paul said.
Doesn’t he have that bass-ackwards? Takes the Second to deter attacks on the First, dumb@zz!
Mayonnaise does eventually get to the brain, just as with Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz.
It’s sad how lots of veterans suffered boating accidents.
They know not to capitalize the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jesus, and to never fail to capitalize the name of the god of mohammad.
After all, accuracy is nothing to lose your head over...
It’s amazing how Donald Trump is moving everybody in the Republican Party to the right.
Senator Rand Paul.
A wonderful filibusterer. A wonderful example of telling us what we desire to hear, and then to leave quickly, for another serving from the bacon-wrapped-shrimp club of D.C.
“I’ve got legislation ...” Meaning that I am not doing anything without the long, drawn out process, that has existed long since before I arrived in D.C.
I do not believe, that if pressed, that U.S. Senator Rand Paul could produce from somewhere on his person, his own concealed firearm, unlike Mr. Trump!
(Teddy Roosevelt kept a revolver in his Oval Office middle desk drawer!)
Yeah but you blew the whole thing when you said “bacon wrapped shrimps”. I didn’t get any further than that. LOL!
All geared up and ready for his VP nomination
Yeah. Veterans, otherwise heroes and so smart, somehow always make the logical mistake of thinking they need their entire gun collection on a kayak tour.
dear rktman,
As it is used down here in the broadcast circle, and Internet spread, of The Walton and Johnson Radio show, (HQ in Houston), “the bacon-wrapped-shrimp-club-of-D.C.” denotes the Uniparty, currently occupying both the house of Reps. and the Senate.
Now, if you could have all the bacon-wrapped-shrimp that you could eat, would you foul that up by becoming that Jimmy Stewart Mr. Smith???????
I knew that, but still————bacon wrapped shirmp side tracked me. :)

I can’t think of many whom interweave their debates and speeches w/ a true basis in the Constitution and personal Liberty than the 2 Dr. Paul’s.
Most of time, the concepts are only lip-service and/or used to cover one’s ass while in office.
So, yes, it IS an infrequent event. I, for one, am glad of the acknowledgement. Maybe it opens the minds of others along the same realization.
Nowadays, God Given has been replaced with Obama Approved.
