John Kasich: 'Running third party doesn't feel right'
CNN ^ | May 16, 2016 | Theodore Schleifer

Watch the full exclusive interview with Ohio Gov. John Kasich on "Anderson Cooper 360" at 8 p.m. ET on CNN.

John Kasich said Monday that he would not mount a third party bid for the White House, putting an end to budding hopes that the former Republican presidential candidate would reenter the race.

"I'm not gonna do that," the Ohio governor told CNN's Anderson Cooper in an exclusive interview, his first since leaving the race. "I gave it my best where I am. I just think running third party doesn't feel right. I think it's not constructive."

Kasich acknowledged that he has had a phone call with "somebody" who wanted him to mount an independent bid. Hopes from some Republican elites in stopping their own presumptive nominee, Donald Trump, have intensified as third-party ballot deadlines loom.

But Kasich isn't having any of it.

Kasich is a man of honor.

Unlike Cruz and Sasse, who put their own ambition ahead of party and country.

None of them are going to split the ticket. The old media is going to attempt to divide the opposition to hitlery and bubba. Why Kasich would go on CNN with queer cooper is beyond me.

Because his internal polls show that he doesn’t have a chance in Hell.

Exactly. And Trump would still win even if all four of Kasich’s supporters actually voted for Kasich.

I don’t recall him or Cruz backing Trump. We all held our noses and voted for McCain and the idiot Romney. Many stayed home instead of voting for him, and it gave us four more remembered years of Obama, and thus he will usher the best years of our lives since Reagan with Trump.

Kasich is an open borders socialist.

___________

What else could it mean?

People who run for president convince themselves that the country needs them.

So long as they think there's any hope of winning they'll stay in the race.

If there's no chance for them to win, it's "not constructive" and they get out.

I can't fault Kasich for listening to reason.

I wonder if “leaving public life and living the rest of his life solitary” appeal to him? I hope it does. The guy is insufferable.

I wonder who that "somebody" was that tried to pull Kasich onto a third party ticket.

Kasich’s holding out for a VP nod. I for one, want him gone.

“Kasich’s holding out for a VP nod. I for one, want him gone.”

That was probably the deal to stay in, but “something” will happen and the nod will go to Gingrich.

Gingrich is actually a good idea. I think Trump has realized that he doesn’t have a clue about actually running the country and will delegate a lot of authority to his VP, probably making him more of a prime minister or chief of staff.

Let me guess. First name rhymes with "nit" as in "nitwit".

That is what I am thinking. It looks like Mitt’s chances are getting smaller by the day. Hey Mitt just go home and forget it.
