Social Conservatives, However Reluctant, Are Warming to the Idea of Trump
NY Times ^ | May 15, 2016 | JEREMY W. PETERS

Activists and leaders in the social conservative movement, after spending most of the past year opposing and condemning Donald J. Trump, are now moving to embrace his candidacy and are joining the growing number of mainstream Republicans who appear ready to coalesce around the party’s presumptive nominee.

Though their support for Mr. Trump is often qualified, this change of heart is one of the more remarkable turns in an erratic and precedent-defying Republican campaign. It reflects the sense among many Republicans that, flawed as they may see him, the thrice-married billionaire is preferable to the alternative.

Exactly. No real conservative in their right mind would prefer Hillary.

And those are our choices: Trump or Hillary.

Whom do you trust more to appoint judges to the Supreme Court?

If they don’t warm up to Trump they warm up to Communists by default.

The choice is clear.

you have thrown away a chance to turn the country back to the right

By doing what? Nominating a man who could not win one more state than Romney?

Sarcastic talk trashing talk is NOT wanted on this site.
You have to know this by now, given Jim Robinson’s repeated requests that such talk STOP.

Please show respect to Jim and, as he says, “Take it elsewhere”.

Get Behind Trump, or Get out of the way. We have a nation to save!”

mcjordansc has been trash talking Trump for months. He’s called Trump an @ss and has wondered how anyone here can support Trump.

NEWSFLASH, mcjordansc.....the boss supports Trump and you likely know that.

You seem to be unhappy with FReepers who support the nominee. I’m wondering why you stick around.

The overall Ted package was resoundingly rejected by voters. Something wasn’t quite right, but no one can precisely what it was. But, whatever is was, it was disturbing.

Jane, If he or anyone else persists in doing this after all the times Jim has politely requested that they stop, I think it would be helpful if, whenever anyone sees this type of disrespectful anti-Trump talk, to ping Jim.

He can’t read every post on every thread, and this might be something we can do to help him keep his site 100% PRO Trump.

Trump has also offered a door marked “opportunity.” Conservative-values people might do well to remember that not all such doors offer genies. Some have a gritty sign on them that reads “come in and work.”

PINGing both Jim and Admin, re: mcjordansc's repeated attempts to weaken our anti-Cankles candidate this November.

I think it was Larry Elder that explained, at least to me.
Trump is not a true died in the wool conservative. He is also not a doctrinaire liberal. He is a business man and therefor a pragmatist. A man who had to play both sides of the street to survive in the very politicized world of real estate development. That pragmatism translates into a can-do, will-do way of life for Trump.
I know that is what won me over.

The may also be why Trump is winning over Conservatives. Paleo-conservatives anyway. I do not think the neo-cons are gonna come over. They have been too long in power in Washington and are not going to surrender it easily
But if the voting numbers are as they seem, Trump is also winning a hell of a lot of Democrat voters over. Old Reagan Democrats and maybe even some millennials and blacks and Hispanics.

Anyone who can’t find enough of a difference between Trump and Clinton to have a strong preference for the former is morally deficient.
