Or, a locked stall, if it is done this way (with a common multi-basin lavatory that can be used by all genders).

I don’t want any common area at all unless it, too, is out in the public area of the entire establishment. I’ve seen school wash areas like that. It’s easier and better security to put a stool and small sink in a number of small square footage private, single occupancy bathrooms. I don’t want ‘public’ area behind enclosed walls.

Dude, any business should be able to choose. Of course, it’s their dumb business. Their women customers can then choose if it’s a big enough deal to matter to them. It’s not that hard. No level of state should be able to tell them who they admit to their bathrooms.

Why it blows my mind is I think maybe we are past the point where women actually care if men use their bathrooms or not. I mean having a law to supposedly protect women who aren’t bothered by the problems that will come from this culturally is pointless, if we are indeed at that point.

I buy that Target would have this policy for ‘great social justice’ and not care about actual business. I don’t buy that from Trump. He seems legit as far as business things go. What, he doesn’t know if his women customers care enough? I don’t buy it. Thus my mind blowage.

The vast majority of your post is why I do my best to keep out of most of today’s societal idiocy.

The problem isn’t just the break-in. It is the camera that is the size of a pinhead attached to a small piece of wire that can extended over and under the stall wall. Your wife or daughter might just be a clip in a “Hot Women of Target” porn video one day.

The only answer is to split the country. Put the perverts, cross-dressers, welfare cheats, athiests, the lazy, the criminals, the abortion lovers and rioters on one end of the country. Put the God-fearing, hard working, family oriented people on the other end.

Lets see which society prospers.

I get the impression, but not the exact message, that Trump would care about garb too. Don’t go into the women’s room if you are a guy dressed like a guy.

America doesn’t expect perfection and doesn’t X-ray pants. It does expect outward respect.

The God fearers would (if actually so) soon organize missions to the other half.

I get the impression he wouldn’t be insane about it, and more importantly wouldn’t mandate anything for anyone else’s bathroom. Publicly owned bathrooms might be a question with him, though.

In any case, Bruce Jenner is famous and a man who claims to be a woman who still digs women, no matter how legit he takes pains to be. He isn’t a lesbian. Men and women are different in their sexual attractions. And yes, nothing would ever happen with him. But even so, the possibility women are comfortable with a man like him in the next stall is not a good cultural indicator, in my opinion. How could it be? Why would Trump have a different answer to the question, if it was asked at all, in 1966 rather than 2016?

I agree. But we’re talking about likelihoods of something happening. When was the last time a woman was arrested for taking upskirt shots? How many men have been arrested for it in the time that elapsed since then?

"Many leftists will undoubtedly scoff at the examples set forth here."

That is their MO. When someone figures out their plans, they say, "Don't be ridiculous; that's just right-wing paranoia." They will lie quite shamelessly about their intentions.

A few months ago, in my local paper's comments section, I said that some people want to ban guns entirely, a very easy claim to document. Some leftist challenged me and said, "Don't be ridiculous, nobody wants to ban guns. Prove it."

It took me less than five minutes to prove it, with several links to reputable sources. Of course, the leftist then went silent.

" . . . members of organizations that are independent, single-sex, and off-campus will no longer be considered for Rhodes and Marshall scholarships, and will be banned from leadership positions in on-campus organizations and athletic teams."

So they basically made the fraternity and sorority systems persona non grata with a single stroke of the pen.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that colleges can force religious organizations to open positions of leadership to people who don't share their religious views, a ruling which is absolutely insane. It makes those organizations subject to hostile takeover by those who oppose their beliefs.

“a hard line seemed to work reasonably well in Germany and Japan after 1945.”

Is he suggesting something like the Nuremburg Trials for leading conservatives? For ALL conservatives who won't recant their views? This guy sounds like a fascist.

Under Obama it's increased to a full gallop.

I have never seen a woman dressed as a man using a men’s restroom. I am curious if anyone else here has ever seen this? I have also never seen a man dressed as a woman using a woman’s bathroom and my wife says that she has never seen this either. Has anyone here seen this?

I have seen women accompanying boys into the men’s restroom. And I have seen men accompanying their daughters into men’s bathrooms. My wife has seen this in women’s restrooms as well.

My wife has a bladder issue because of nerve damage from a car accident and sometimes does not realize that she is close to wetting herself until it is almost to late. She has sometimes had to use a stall in the men’s restroom if the women’s restroom has been occupied. She has tried to make sure that there was no one in the men’s room who would be offended before entering.

I am just not sure that this is a problem that is worthy of legislation. It seems like something that normal decency tends to take care of. It seems to me that the entire issue is something being used to take people’s attention away from real concerns such as Obama’s complete failures at basically everything.

"They might have nailed the timing once again, by simply having a better read on the cultural pulse than culturally sane folks actually do."

I'm afraid you're right. I've been staying with my mother a lot lately, and am therefore subject to her TV viewing habits. What I see amazes me: the sexually-obsessed trash of stuff like Two Broke Girls, Mike and Molly, and even Family Feud; the leftist morning talk shows like The View; the highly-politicized, leftist late-night talk shows; corporate ads increasingly geared to a leftist worldview; the Food Channel normalizing homosexuality and transvestitism; the appalling mindlessness of Ellen's audience; and on and on.

And then there's the cable stuff that my mom doesn't watch: Samantha Bee, Bill Maher, The Daily Show, and so forth: left-wing trash, often vulgar in a way that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.

"It is my hope that in their hubris the left has “jumped the shark” and so grossly over-reached on this issue that they will suffer from overwhelming recoil from the voters in November."

I kind of think it's out of our hands now. The left will just keep pushing and pushing until they drive society over a cliff. "Progressivism" means YOU CAN NEVER STOP, you can never go too far. So at some point they will actually try - in some systematic way - to punish conservatives. (This is already happening piecemeal, as with the Oregon bakers.) The professor in this article actually refers to something along those lines, i.e., "dealing with the losers."

I'm reminded of Spain in the 1930s. The left overreached and provoked the Spanish Civil War.

A cross-dresser used to come into my local bar, but I don’t know which restroom he used, or even if he ever used one. He never stayed very long, and I haven’t seen him for years.
