Sorry for the rough, quick and dirty translation. The issue is that the PR and federal governments have been fear mongering about the Puerto Rico GOVERMENT debt crisis to try to get Congress moving on some relief, and that strategy has obviously backfired because it is scaring away investors and tourism, which was the only sector of the economy that was showing any signs of growth. And the press is not very far in spreading this nonsense.

The government of Puerto Rico has been running a Ponzi Scheme for years.
They should clap their politicians in irons and confiscate everything they have.

the island as facing a humanitarian crisis. The humanitarian crisis is that you can't spend more than you have forever. Eventually you have to pay the piper. By this dopey logic, I have a humanitarian crisis every time I get a credit card bill.

I thought that Puerto Rico’s looming financial catastrophe was caused by irresponsible politicians spending money they didn’t have.
Now we find out it’s the intransigent republicans in Washington who won’t cooperate with democrats.

Years ago I traveled to PR on business. What a dump! Food was crap, and everything smelled bad.

The Gov was on Jake Tapper’s show about a month ago saying that the Zika Virus is a humanitarian crisis in PR — but by saying that he’s driving away even more tourism dollars!
