FOX News ^ | 5/12/2016

Posted on 05/12/2016 6:00:52 AM PDT by nikos1121

Trump will meet with Speaker of the House Paul Ryan at 9am this morning. All the networks will be covering live remarks made by both men following the meeting.

The URL above links to the various video postings on this meeting thus far, (amazing how much coverage all ready), so Freepers will need to find their own source, (FOX, NBC, ABC, CNN, etc).

Please post a good live thread when it surfaces here, and also commentary. As always, it will be interesting how our take here on Free Republic will be.

“Then we hear that the low life Bob Woodward has assigned 20 reporters to dig up dirt on Trump”

The liberals just don’t get it. Trump - and his supporters - are not the norm.

First, Trump’s baggage is known. He’s been in the spotlight most of his life.

Second, Trump supporters don’t care as long as he does what he says and fights to put America first. He not a politician and we don’t expect-or want- him to act like one.

Well, thank you. It didn’t take a rocket surgeon to figure out the most likely outcome.

Trump is very good at deal-making, PR, and managing expectations. He has to hedge on his relationship with Ryan at this point. No commitments yet, if ever.

Megan crawled to Trump for forgiveness. Trump now braces Ryan in his cave to give him a chance to cooperate. I can’t wait to see Ryan praising Trump on the news tonight. Watch the line of anti-Trumpers forming to seek his blessings. Of course many of them will just go underground with their agendas. They will soon find their trough will be empty.

Trump = 350 companies in USA and another 350 world wide

Ryan = Was Once An Oscar Weinermobile driver.

Those are the more dangerous ones. I'm grateful for the ones that are public with their disagreement.

I agree KC. I think Ryan still has a lot of allegiance to Romney who has been a total disgrace - he needs to shut up big time and get out of the way. Ryan needs to see his bread is buttered with Trump and Trump supporters and not Mitt or Cruz. I don’t know this for sure, but bits and pieces that I’ve read here and there make me believe that Ryan is part of/being paid by the Cheap Labor Express and that one of his big beefs with Trump is the wall and deporting illegals. Trump cannot change his stance on that as those of us that follow his rallies know that is why a lot of people are supporting him, including legal citizens from other countries as well as families that have had family members killed by illegals.

Their full joint statement follows:

The United States cannot afford another four years of the Obama White House, which is what Hillary Clinton represents. That is why it’s critical that Republicans unite around our shared principles, advance a conservative agenda, and do all we can to win this fall. With that focus, we had a great conversation this morning. While we were honest about our few differences, we recognize that there are also many important areas of common ground. We will be having additional discussions, but remain confident there’s a great opportunity to unify our party and win this fall, and we are totally committed to working together to achieve that goal. We are extremely proud of the fact that many millions of new voters have entered the primary system, far more than ever before in the Republican Party’s history. This was our first meeting, but it was a very positive step toward unification.

Sounds like Ryan came to his senses.

For every Ryan-establishment voter Trump could win over by moderating any of his positions, he'll lose three voters who have been coming to his rallies in the tens of thousands and voting for him in the many millions. I have bee 110% Trump since I heard his first stump speech. I am feeling a little sick now.

He should tell Ryan, "THIS IS HOW IT'S GONNA BE". PERIOD.

If you are looking for Trump to declare all-out war on the GOPe, it’s never going to happen. Never. Set your expectations accordingly and realistically. The time for that kind of divisive rhetoric is over.

We need to focus our attention on the Democrat Party. Trump is doing that. Follow his lead. We will get what we want.

Others have picked up on the underlying theme that whatever differences existed between Ryan and Trump, they still exist. We have a better grasp of Trump's goal than of Ryan's.

On the drug issue, Ryan and his GOP toadies have been working on that independently of Trump's ascendancy.

Ryan's answers to the Q&A are pap, everybody agrees on general principles of the constitution (BS), separation of powers, limited federal government. Admits that Trump is bringing a whole new wing of voters to the GOP. Ryan says there is complete agreement on core principles, but disagreement on policy, which, he says, is to be expected, he didn't agree with all of Romney's policy positions. Ryan recognizes that Trump has received more voter support than any other GOP candidate.

All agree that Hillary presidency would be a disaster, and all agree that the voters think America is on the wrong track. Ryan seems composed and confident, not agitated, not nervous.

Ryan came out of that meeting with a new respect and budding love for Trump.
You can see this in his Presser.
Trump wins! Trump wants this drama to play out a bit longer.
More free press coverage to come. ;0)

The good citizens of Wisconsin will “fire” Ryan in their upcoming primary. Remember your good friend (and partner in crimes) Eric Cantor, Mr.Ryan?
