Ted Cruz Coalition Want Bathroom Laws In Republican Party Platform…
Conservative Treehouse ^ | May 9, 2016 | Sundance

Posted on 05/09/2016 2:06:48 PM PDT by COUNTrecount

This story is an example why the republican party consistently loses against the progressive left. In response to the ridiculous, albeit recent, NC bathroom laws (which the MSM are having fun bashing conservatives on the head with) the Ted Cruz constituency wants to write bathroom laws into the 2016 republican party platform.

Yes, yes, unfortunately that’s the modern right-wing cultural GOPe. Look over there, shiny thing, shiny thing… quick, go chase it….. quick make a law to control it…. bathrooms, gays, transgenders… oh noes, the humanity !

WASHINGTON DC – After he lost the Republican nomination, Sen. Ted Cruz’s backers will now reportedly pivot towards trying to gain control of the GOP’s platform during the national convention.

According to The New York Times, top Cruz aide Ken Cuccinelli wrote in an email to supporters urging them to come to Cleveland in July to “protect against liberal changes to our platform.” Cuccinelli confirmed the effort to the Times, telling them that Cruz’s backers seek to protect “movement conservatism,” including a firming of the party’s core positions on abortion and the addition of language regarding transgender bathroom use.

“We want to have girls go in girls’ bathrooms,” he said, alluding to how presumptive nominee Donald Trump has taken a more liberal position than Cruz on which bathrooms transgender individuals can use. (read more)

Bathroom monitors? Really? That’s what the Ted Cruz wing of the republican party is worried about… being the bathroom police?

Personally, I’ve come to the conclusion the GOPe actually meets behind mahogany doors and picks out things -intentionally- to make issues out of and give the republican party the public appearance of insane nuttery. I’ve come to believe they do this on purpose as party of the entire construct of the UniParty…. there can be no other reasonable explanation.

EVERY issue is a moral issue, from taxes to national security to marriage, etc.

By your logic, if the left wanted to make it legal for everyone can walk around naked, you would just sit back and allow it.

We don’t need wusses like you who refuse to fight for basic human decency in the party.

Excellent!

There comes a point where it is chasing after trivia.

How can a thing that didn’t even EXIST much over a hundred years ago (indoor plumbing so easy that there can be such a thing as segregated restrooms practical) become such a life or death thing?

Ask the schoolmarms of old where the student went to the potty. Right! The outhouse. And this was when there was far more virtue conscience than today.

You are going to tie yourself up in the same complexity of knots, except double now?

That is the very definition of folly.

Yes, we do. Once outrageous antisocial behavior starts happening that no one foresaw before, it’s time to write a law to stop it.

It has absolutely NOTHING to do with prohibition. Penises going in the ladies room is not equivalent to drinking a glass of wine.

I know why they’re doing this: to keep the social conservative vote. However, baff-a-room bills of whatever variety should be left to the states, just like defining marriage should have been before five black-robed dictators pulled that ruling out of their arses.

Strawman! It’s not life or death and no one said it was.

No Mr. Sphinx, we Trumpkins are not at all stupid, some Trumpkins, including Mr. Trump himself, are not thinking clearly on this particular issue.

Instead of calling us names, why don’t you join us, and help those of us who do see the problems with this, persuade our fellow Trumpkins about why Senator Cruz is correct about this (and he is!) Then, united, we need to let Mr. Trump know our position and insist this be a plank in our platform!

Practially speaking, we are not going to get the transgender/transvestite/homosexual vote anyway, and we can get a lot of votes from people who are very concerned about this, who might otherwise vote for the democrat.

I remember way back when, when Phyllis Schafly was trying to (successfully) block the ERA. She said then that passing the ERA would lead to unisex bathrooms, and all of the other laws written to protect women would be declared unconstitutional! The liberal supporters of the ERA were saying, oh no, these things would never happen!

And now we see, the left is trying to force this on us, essentially putting the horrible ERA amendment in place, that fails to protect women!

It will be, if you get the USSC to slap you down and push you back just to show you who’s boss.

We need to put it in the platform to keep it like it was. It’s the left who changed the law to allow penises in the ladies room. The NC legislature made a law to put it back the way it was.

Correct. Some on this forum need to face up to the fact that it is anti-Judeo-Christian/anti-morality forces that are forcing this issue upon our nation.

Every issue isn't a Federal issue, which if you understood the Federal system, you would know that.

The last time you guys tried to impose your morality on the nation, Prohibition, how did that work out?

The GOP cannot get side track fighting over the bathrooms, when we are locked in a death struggle regarding our borders and sovereignty.

Bathrooms are a local issue, not a Federal one.

Yep, and that’s what will happen here. There should’ve been a constitutional amendment to define marriage while the country overwhelmingly agreed on what it should be. Our side needs to be MUCH MORE active in fixing correct moral values into a solid legal form, not less.

And nobody realizes yet that when you get Uncle Sam involved in a morality issue it always, always makes a counterproductive hash of it. Always.

It is nonsense to put something in the GOP Platform that is common sense!

The Platform represents political positions, on where we want the nation to go politically.

Why not just put the 10 commandments in the Platform and say we are for these?

Total garbage. A campaign is not based on ONE issue. Walk/chew gum. And this issue is much more safe to run on than the border issue. Is the tranny vote more important than the latino vote? Bush getting same-sex marriage on ballots helped him win in 2004.

Prohibition is a strawman that has NOTHING to do with the issue.

It’s the liberals who are going to make this a federal issue by judicial fiat if we don’t get it straightened out first and out of their hands. Did you not learn anything from past disasters, e.g. same-sex marriage?
