Democrats admit they want to make the government ‘irritating’
The New York Post ^ | May 7, 2016 | Kyle Smith

It’s rare when a politician is as honest about his strategy as the New York City councilman largely responsible for the plastic-bag fee about to hit New York City. For his candor, Brad Lander (D-Brooklyn) ought to be considered a new American hero.

Here is progressive politics in 2016: “It works by irritating us into changing our behavior,” Lander said of the bag tax.

It works by irritating us. There can be some debate about the accuracy of one of those verbs, but not the other. Government, when it’s being honest, acknowledges it isn’t your buddy, your helper, your protector, your go-to source for inspiration and dreams.

It is past the point of being merely irritating.

Pro-government a$$holes should understand that while the squeaky wheel gets the grease, one that keeps squeaking gets replaced. Sometimes the whole car gets junked.

They succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, generations ago, starting with Wilson.

Would an all out Civil War be irritating?

Just what I was thinking. We could do an air infusion test since those cheap plastic grocery store ones often haves holes in them. Only the finest quality should be used on the little despots.

The GOP needs to utilize that fact to gather support to reduce its size.

Ah! Citizens are to be penalized financially unless they behave as their political masters dictate.

Not the Land of the Free model as founded then.

No kidding. Friggen oxygen-stealing politicians need to be properly air-tested.

It’s even more galling when you think about how lousy those grocery bags are. I could change my behavior though. Just ask for paper bags. Most stores have them still and I have more uses for them anyway.

We recently moved to a rural area in central Colorado. We are four miles from the nearest grocery store. It’s located in a town full of aging hippie types. The first day we were here we stopped to get some bread/milk. I stayed in the car with the dog while my wife went inside. When she returned she had a sour look on her face. They wanted $1 for each plastic bag. Eight miles in the other direction is another more normal town. We’ve never been back to the nearer store. F’em.
