A Watershed Moment (for Trump)
Townhall ^ | 5/5/2016 | Jackie Gingrich Cushman

Posted on 05/05/2016 6:36:51 PM PDT by GilGil

...How ironic it would be to see the Republicans united at their convention in Cleveland, Ohio, in July; followed by the Democrats a week later in Philadelphia, still fighting over who should be their nominee...

While many will tout the most recent poll, (CNN/ORC poll conducted April 28-May 1) that has Clinton leading Trump by 54 percent to 41 percent, as a portending his sure defeat in the fall, they are wrong. Clinton is very beatable, especially by Trump...

KEYWORDS: clinton; election; primaries; trump
This reminds me of when Trump announced in June and even Gingrich said he thought Trump had a 1 in a billion chance to win the nomination.

Now everyone is underestimating Trump again with no chance of winning. As Scott Adams has said many times, by October it will look as if Trump is running unopposed and the word landlside will be used to describe his candidacy.

Until Trump has a good, steady run of positive polls I’m not allowing myself to get over-confident, or confident. The demographics in this country have changed drastically. Trump was ahead for the last 10 months in most of the polls against the republicans & won...he’s been behind for 10 months to Hillary in most polls....so why should I trust his GOP polls & not hers ?

I see in doing an internet search the association to the Clinton’s of ORC has been eliminated, therefore I have to say TRUST ME, that ORC is heavily involved with the Clinton’s.

I trust nothing CNN/ORC publishes.

How nice of all the MSM to be trying to help us out. I’m really impressed. I think we should do what CNN thinks we need to do to beat Hillary.

Do I really have to sarc tag this?

I’m being practical. I’m with Trump. I agree with him on immigration, trade, Obamacare, globalism...he’s outstanding on the issues I care about. But I’m not going to ignore reality. Let’s see what happens. Trump needs to target the rust-belt: PA, Ohio, VA, Michigan....if he gets those & I think he can, then he gets in. PA is the key. I don’t trust the state, but I think he just might have a chance to flip it.

The only poll that means anything is the one on November 8th...

I am enthusiastically supporting Trump, but like you, I’m not yet convinced he is a strong general election candidate.

I definitely feel like the race is winnable, and the good news is he still has ample time to persuade people to vote for him.

That doesn’t mean we should ignore the fact that he starts the race as a distinct underdog though. He has a lot of work to do if he hopes to bring home the victory in November.

Here’s hoping.

Trump was the under dog in June. People were saying what you were saying.

Rove said he would not exceed 10%.

By October Trump will be running as if unopposed!

I sometimes think older conservatives just don’t understand the massive demographic shifts in the population that have been ongoing....all the other way & not in our favor. The GOP has lost the Asian-American vote, which is the fastest growing demographic. The under 30 crowd looks more radical than the Boomers of the 60s.

They have the media....and all hell is going to break loose as they attack. Trump is the only republican who can deal with that; so that’s a big plus for us. I think it all comes down to the rust-belt this year.

Reagan was behind in the polls even a week before his 1980 win

And that was the last really big comeback along with Bush 41....Bush 41 was behind in 92 all along & lost. Dole was behind in 96 all along & lost. McCain was behind in 2008 all along & lost. Romney was behind all along in 2012 & lost....this tend is not our friend. Let’s hope Trump starts moving those polls soon.

And this season just as in 1980 the pundits have it all WRONG. They don’t understand Trump’s popularity anymore than they did Reagan’s. That is the point.

When I watched his campaigning kick off I knew I was looking at the next POTUS.
