If I am not sure who they support, I will leave that spot blank. Please feel free to post corrections. Follow the link to view the lists in an easier to read format.

The Convention was very disorganized and chaotic. The At Large Delegates and Alternates were elected using a web based system and there were significant problems with access and the list not being complete. Robert Graham never fails to disappoint. The protest area set up by police was empty.

It was noted on another thread that the Cruz and Kasich people had an agreement to vote for each other and that strategy worked for them. It is amazing to me that we were elected to represent the voters and yet people voted for thier personal candidate instead of the one the voters told us to. I realize the rules allow for this but I honestly thought people had more integrity than that.

For the statistics people:

Total votes for At Large Delegates- 1106

Trump Slate- 430 (38.9%) Cruz Slate- 409 (37.0%) Select Own Delegates- 181 (16.4%) Kasich Slate- 57 (5.2%) Unity Slate- 29 (2.6)

Just remember, Donald J Trump’s single acknowledged fault is holding a grudge too long. These folks will be remembered in a Trump administration.

I hope Trump figures out a way to get back at all these GOPe back stabbers big-time when he is President. Hope he is able somehow to revamp and clean up the entire RNC, including getting rid of Reince Priebus. They are all pond suck.

Unfortunately the GOPe does too. They have little respect for the people. Hope Trump can us turn it around.

Meanwhile Cruz took ten of 13 delegates at their convention in Virginia which majority voted for Trump who got only three.

Saw this on ABC front page. More details there.

"Texas Sen. Ted Cruz pulled out a strategic victory at Saturday's Arizona Republican Party convention, nailing down a large majority of delegates to the national convention amid cheating accusations from backers of businessman Donald Trump.

"The Cruz slate won virtually all of the 28 at-large national delegates and roughly split the 27 delegates selected by congressional district."

thanks for your report, AZHSer!

"It is amazing to me that we were elected to represent the voters and yet people voted for thier personal candidate instead of the one the voters told us to. I realize the rules allow for this but I honestly thought people had more integrity than that. "

I think people have always expected their delegates to uphold their voting preference. Otherwise, why have them? But the lid is off the pot of stew, state by state, and we're seeing what's inside is a hot mess. People aren't going to put up with the shenanigans we're seeing from those political career-inclined and/or career politician delegates playing voters for the fool. Once Trump is elected, watch for all getout to break loose within state party hierarchies as voters turn their attention to the GOP itself.

Three-hour wait at two different precincts for me. I was unable physically to cast my ballot which really angered me. Then to find out it would not have mattered anyway. What the heck is going on here?

Vote Kelli Ward to replace McCain!

Yep and the process was really not very transparent. They didn’t list the slates and who they supported together but instead provided a list of all candidates for the delegate slot with their candidate preference or undeclared and then they provided almost no time to cross reference the lists. We came close to defeating the chosen slate. Cruz came in 3rd in Virginia getting 16.9% of the vote and there was zero effort to be fair.

If Cruz have a better ground game than Trump, then Cruz wouldn’t have just won 11, vs Trump’s 27. This is not about ground game, but which state party officials are willing to cheat. Cruz has nothing to do with it

I am moving to Chandler in 2 weeks. I know these are cherished spots, but if something comes up and you need a reliable Trump delegate, I would love to do it. Native Arizonian, Chandler High/ASU grad, returning home.

Trump won 46% of the Arizona vote.-286,743 votes
“each delegate to the national convention shall vote for the party’s presidential nominee candidate who received the greatest number of votes in the presidential preference election”

AZHSer- Thanks for your time & the post.
Are delegates not bound for Trump on the 1st ballot? Did they change the rules?

Delegate Selection: Winner-Take-All,
Voter Eligibility: Closed Primary
58 total delegates - 10 base at-large / 27 re: 9 congressional districts / 3 party / 18 bonus

Source: 2016 Election Information from azsos.gov.
Source: The Official Guide to the 2016 Republican Nominating Process.

Tuesday 22 March 2016: All of 58 of Arizona’s delegates to the RNC are pledged to the presidential contender receiving the greatest number of votes in today’s Arizona Presidential Primary.

Saturday 26 March - Saturday 9 April 2016: The Arizona Legislative District and County Conventions elect delegates to the State Convention and Congressional District caucuses.

Saturday 30 April 2016: The Arizona State Convention convenes. Delegates are elected according to the results of the primary.

27 district delegates to the Republican National Convention are chosen with 3 delegates selected in each of the 9 congressional districts.
The State Convention chooses 28 at-large delegates from Arizona to the Republican National Convention.
In addition, 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Arizona’s Republican Party, will attend the convention as bound delegates by virtue of their position.

... each delegate to the national convention shall vote for the party’s presidential nominee candidate who received the greatest number of votes in the presidential preference election ..., until the candidate releases the delegate from the delegate’s obligation, until a candidate withdraws from the race or until one convention nominating ballot has been taken. After a candidate is nominated, withdraws from the race, delegates are released or one ballot is taken, each delegate is free to vote as the delegate chooses .... [Arizona Revised Statutes 16-243]

Yes, they are bound on the first ballot. My concern is, if they are willing to pull these shenanigans at the state level, what will they do at national? Robert Graham and the GOPe throw the rules at us when they are in their favor and ignore the rules when they are not.

They have said that after every state convention that has had simular results. In this case, I believe it may be warranted. The web based system had numerous problems. Robert Graham publicly acknowledged there were issues with the ballot. People were left off and there were glitches and bandwidth problems. For a while, they even considered a second vote. They took so long that I believe there would not have been a quorum to try again. Besides, they got the results they wanted. Why risk a second vote?

Thank you for your replies. Each time I go to Phoenix,I am amazed at the lengths they go to to insure their own power. I have been a republican my whole life. I leave the state meetings and conventions torn between walking away and a sincere desire to try and fix things from within. If there was a viable third party solution with true integrity, I would run to it with open arms.
