Donald Trump as president? Warren Buffett says it wouldn’t hurt U.S. businesses.

A Donald Trump presidency wouldn’t be the blow to U.S. business that some fear, according to Warren Buffett, chairman and chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway.

“If either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton becomes president, and one of them is very likely to be, I think Berkshire will continue to do fine,” Buffett, 85, said at the company’s annual shareholders meeting Saturday in Omaha.

The outcome of November’s presidential election is unlikely to change the fact that the United States is a “remarkably attractive place in which to conduct a business,” said Buffett, who in December endorsed Clinton (D) at a rally in Omaha. U.S. companies have enjoyed “terrific” returns on equity despite a sustained period of ultra-low interest rates, he added.

Trump and Clinton are their parties’ respective front-runners in a campaign that has exposed discontent with Washington insiders, anger over global trade deals, frustration with Wall Street and furor over the growing gap between rich and poor. At the same time, each candidate’s unfavorable rating exceeds 50 percent, a historically high figure at this late stage in the primary season.

Buffett says that it doesn't natter who is president, but he endorsed Hillary.

I respectfully disagree. Republicans tend to promote business, while Dems tend to promote regulatory anti-business climate.

If Buffet is endorsing Trump then by all means he must be the de-facto conservative nominee.

Translation: The old goat is confident he can put Donald Trump in his pocket the same way he has Hillary.

He may be right or he may just be able to exploit the situation in either case.

Buffet donated something like a billion bucks to Planned Parenthood, and he’s a liberal. He freaking LOVES Hillary.

He’s simply mitigating his potential losses cuz he knows Hillary stands NO chance against Trump.

This man used to be a giant, and now he is an antennae-waving, mandible clicking INSECT.

The past 10 years this man has totally transformed.

He’s a disgusting and dishonorable man, and I used to freaking LOVE him.

Buffett endorsed Hillary a few months ago.

Misleading article title.

In the text it says Buffett is fine with either Trump or Hillary — neither will hurt his business.

True, but what I got out of the article, Buffett wasn't talking about business in general. He may have made it seem that way, but he wasn't--at least not to me. He was talking about his business. And when you have a business of that magnitude, and have plenty of politicians bought, and investments all around, you don't really get hurt no matter who's President.

Buffett is just trying to curry favor to whom ever becomes President. He’s still a bottom feeder and that will never change.

The last few days have been a real downer with all the negative press Trunp has gotten from MSM. To top it all, I really hate Buffet and can’t bare to see or hear him, so this thread is the last straw! I’m off to bed.

Republicans have controlled the House of Representatives since 2010 and they literally fund and support Planned Parenthood. I do not see you itching about them and their pernicious ways.

Trump’s an Old Right Robert A Taft conservative. Despite all of that, Buffet can still see the writing on the wall and needs White House access regardless of who’s in it.

“Misleading” defines Warren Buffet. Intentionally misleading people has been one of his “go to” techniques in amassing his huge fortune. Honesty has never been part of his character, or lack thereof.

Warren Buffet makes highly calculated public statements to benefit himself. Period. It's a game to him.

Republicans controlled the White House, the House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court in 2002 and they did absolutely nothing about abortion except act embarrassed whenever abortion got mentioned. They acted embarrassed of their own supporters for bringing abortion up.

Very true. That reality did not really hit me until all the pounding upon a private citizen Trump for stating the party obvious. No politician will ever convince me the 'original intent' of our Constitution provided a 'right' to kill the unborn. But I will be darn IF I am going to have a double standard, saying one thing and doing the opposite, like elected Republicans have been doing for decades.

Yes, I watched shareholders meeting live this morning over data streaming, and he didn’t attack Trump even though he is a Democrat. But he didn’t endorse him, either.

His A class stock is probably the most expensive in the world, I only buy the B class. But if you bought the A class in the 90s you would be rich right now.

I am buying Canadian National Railway (CNI), Warren’s thing has a lot of railroad in it, but keep in mind that those trains were transporting coal and shale. Expect a decline in the near future on coal, shale might be too costly if oil dips below 30 dollars per barrel. But I do like his B class.

Of course there would be no problem with Trump, Warren knows that and he isn’t stupid.

Hildabeast wins and the recession goes on.

Trump wins and the pent up economy of the last 8 years booms but only IF welfare does not compete with employment for workers.

A family of four making 80K a year pays right at 20K in taxes and lives on the other 60K. A family of four on the dole lives on the same 60K a year in benefits but with almost no risk and they can work part time on the side and double their money tax free. Which would you choose?

I know of a place in my home county that has 12 good jobs open right now and can’t find a sole to fill them.

The dole has to end but it will not. As a nation we are through. We have killed ourselves.
