Persecution for the expression of opinions seems to me perfectly logical. If you have no doubt of your premises or your power, and want a certain result with all your heart, you naturally express your wishes in law, and sweep away all opposition. To allow opposition by speech seems to indicate that you think the speech impotent, as when a man says that he has squared the circle, or that you do not care wholeheartedly for the result, or that you doubt either your power or your premises.

But when men have realized that time has upset many fighting faiths, they may come to believe even more than they believe the very foundations of their own conduct that the ultimate good desired is better reached by free trade in ideas -- that the best test of truth is the power of the thought to get itself accepted in the competition of the market, and that truth is the only ground upon which their wishes safely can be carried out.

That, at any rate, is the theory of our Constitution. It is an experiment, as all life is an experiment. Every year, if not every day, we have to wager our salvation upon some prophecy based upon imperfect knowledge. While that experiment is part of our system, I think that we should be eternally vigilant against attempts to check the expression of opinions that we loathe and believe to be fraught with death, unless they so imminently threaten immediate interference with the lawful and pressing purposes of the law that an immediate check is required to save the country.

That’s the worst excerpt ever. Nothing to do with the title.

The RATs will soon see that to save face they need Hillary to be indicted, rather than steamrolled.

“......they just might regret getting the match-up they had hoped for.”

What CRAP. They are and have been scared to death of Trump. Trump hasn’t changed. He’s the same guy from the beginning. I can’t wait for the campaign. It’s gonna be a hoot.

WasTED Cruz is going to get so balled up in efforts to save him, they'll weigh him down like concrete shoes in the Potomac

And the reason he will never be President is because he doesn't see this

Ted Cruz is in serious need of an intervention, but I”m not sure he has any friends sober enough to give him one.

Even when he says things you agree with, Cruz sounds and looks like the oiliest money-grubbing television evangelist.

I've gotten to where I cannot stand to listen to him especially now with Carly "let me speak" Fiorina next to him with her over exaggerated facial contortions.

The problem with Ted Cruz is that he won’t leave.

The problem with Ted Cruz is that he was born.

Wow. What a spot on piece. It should be required reading for the few remaining Cruzbots on FR. Maybe this will make them see the light — or, to more accurate, what a total POS Cruz is.

Then, he opens his mouth. And people scream. They run for the exits as if their hair is on fire. They want to take a shower.

I laughed so hard at that.

All in all the article pegged Cruz to a T.

I predict that the latest @CarlyFiorina merger will be as successful as her last one.

Ouch that is going to leave a mark. Boxers is not to bright but whoever writes her stuff nailed Carly with that tweet.

“The problem with Ted”

They already have “Cruz Fiorina” merchandise, shirts, hats, etc.

Talk about putting the cart before the horse.

Good article.

One of the comments at source: "Cruz brings people together. Everyone hates him."

Even after Trump wins the presidency, Cruz will pretend that HE won.

Cruz is mentally ill.
