Donald Trump Will Be Called to Testify in Trial About His 'University'

The New York attorney general suggests that Donald Trump may be taking the stand soon in a court case about the now-defunct Trump University.

The news follows a New York court decision that the lawsuit filed by the attorney general against the former for-profit institution will proceed to trial, after a settlement could not be reached.

"I am very pleased the judge has indicated her intention to move as expeditiously as possible to trial, as thousands of Mr. Trump’s alleged victims have been waiting years for relief from his fraud," Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said in a statement released this afternoon.

"We believe that Mr. Trump and Mr. Sexton will be essential witnesses at trial. As we will prove in court, Donald Trump and his sham for-profit college defrauded thousands of students out of millions of dollars," Schneiderman's statement said, referencing Michael Sexton, the man who approached Trump about starting the program.

“As we will prove in court, Donald Trump and his sham for-profit college defrauded thousands of students out of millions of dollars,”..............

Sounds to me like a lot of other colleges do the same thing. The cost of a college degree today far exceeds those of just a few year back when a “real” education was received. Not today! College students pay far more for MUCH LESS.

This from the State AG? Hypocrite much, Schneiderman? No diffusing at all using the term “alleged”.

Sounds like The Kangaroo Court is now in session.

How about having the University of North Carolina coaches testify as to their knowledge of sham classes that required no attendance and no work in order to keep star athletes eligible as student athletes.

So, what are the chances that Donald would step down from the race because of this? Probably greater than the hildebeast stepping down for “alleged” treasonous activity. :>)

Trump was corret to not settle as a settlement would be construed as an admission of guilt.

As for Trump appearing at the trial, I highly doubt it since he can easily be deposed by phone or video link if he is at all deposed. With the legal help Trump has I have no doubt this trial can be continued ad infinitum based on the various legal procedures available to everyone so involved in a trial.

Finally, the political element behind this is so blatantly obvious as to be fodder for late night comics. If Trump goes to trial can Hillary be far behind.....?

Yes, everybody does it. Why single out Trump?

Spending a lot of money for a worthless certificate is a form of education. School of Hard Knocks.

So who sends you people your talking points and posting assignments? Anything to help Hillary.

As someone who voted for Trump in the primary but then became a Cruzader....this is the kind of thing that will unite the camps under one banner. Rubio’s opp. research came up with this.

If Trump is the nominee...and he is...I will stand with my original vote and back Don-Don.

I would urge my fellow Cruzaders to do the same....

We'll survive to fight another day.

But the HilderBeast must be defeated. Jedi.

I remember a scene in the movie, “Sleeper”, where the Woody Allen character was aroused by rubbing his hands over a silver sphere. I wonder if this NY AG has one of those spheres and was “using” it as he was reading this statement.

“No diffusing at all using the term “alleged”.”

The job of the state prosecutors (of which the AG is the chief) is to make the case for the prosecution, not to hedge their bets with language designed to protect against slander lawsuits. That is for the journalists.

How exactly is this case political when the prosecution of it began years before Trump decided to run for President?

It appears that the Attorney General is seeking to market himself publicity wise. As a trial lawyer, I recognize the tactic. Also as an experienced trial lawyer, my guess is that Donald Trump's lawyers will make the AG wish he had picked on someone who would not fight back.

Frankly, this should end up as a positive for Donald in the fall campaign. More free publicity!

Not really, this is the same as the liberal side of Alaska’s political machine getting Palin out of office.

Palin actually got Palin out of office voluntarily.

If I remember correctly.

I think she could have remained Governor till termed.

And had she run for the Senate with her full heart and head into it...Senator Palin would probably be a leader on the Senate campaign committee...but then...well, defecation happens!

Jedi.
