A family and employees inside a Foley towing business got the shock of their lives when a twin-engine plane went down in flames just outside their office Tuesday afternoon. The sole person inside escaped with just minor injuries.

Foley Municipal Airport officials confirm the twin-engine Cessna was taking off when it immediately went down near Sunset Circle and Hickory Street. The plane was on fire, but the pilot got out through the back and jumped almost 10 feet to the ground to get away.

Police and airport officials said the pilot walked away with only a few burns and cuts on his hands.

The people on the ground but more about saving their car then they did about seeing if anyone was in the plane. With the plane on fire it would have been an act of Bravery especially after seeing that light up quite a bit away from it bring it

Yep, and just in time because the fuel spray lit up the area where the car had been parked. The plane was in the tree. I would have done the same!

Any landing you walk away from is a good landing. For the plane, not so much.

A good landing is one you can walk away from.
A great landing is one where they can re-use the aircraft afterwards.

My only though was “Where were the fire extinguishers?”

A towing business should have had a bunch laying around in the trucks.

“Honey, call 911” as the guy runs down with one in each arm.
